on the radio I heard them talking about the strength of SEC coaches they said Sabin,Richt,Meyer,Miles,Patrino,Turberville,Spurrier,Nutt,Grooms,Brooks and Fulmer and Johnson I don't think this was their rating but that was the order they listed them It made me think how I would rate them and I realized it wasn't far off:dunno:

We have done this before...

But...

Meyer
Saban
Richt
Tuberville
Spurrier
Fulmer
Petrino
Nutt
Miles
Brooks
Croom
Johnson

I feel like I have Brooks and Croom too far back, but I don't know how to change it.

This is becoming a weekly topic but since I haven't done it for awhile and I'm bored what the heck...

1. Meyer
2. Spurrier
3. Richt
4. Tuberville
5. Miles
6. Saban
7. Fulmer
8. Petrino (Although I think he could end up much higher in a few seasons at ARK)

9. Croom
10. Brooks
11. Nutt
12. Johnson

My opinion is based on total SEC career, not just current job or '07 results:

Spurrier
Meyer
Saban
Richt
Fulmer
Tuberville
Miles
Petrino (might be higher, but no SEC track record yet)
Nutt
Brooks
Croom
Johnson

Lists like this are entirely pointless. Johnson and Croom consistently wind up near the bottom, but who knows what they might do if they had the consistent talent level of Miles, Meyer, or even (oh yeah) Fulmer?

I think anyone that watched Croom's team play this year and still ranks them 11th is absolutely out of their mind.

Bobby Johnson should be last on all the lists, but only because Orgeron isn't a HC anymore.

i just thought after hearing Mike Terico name the SEC coaches, it was interesting he named Phil almost as an afterthought didn't mean to waste your time

I was listening when Tirico named the coaches and thought the same thing . . . Then it dawned on me that he had run through an alphabetical listing of the SEC schools.

So, why would he be ahead of him? How's that series gone since Tuberville got to Auburn?

TT has been coaching for more than ten years. Hows his all time record compare to CPF's? How many national titles does he have? I thought titles and wins are all that matter?
Also how many 10 plus win seasons has Saban had? How many undefeated seasons does he have?

It is up to what you use to judge who it better. These lists are silly and only serve to let some who dislike our coach a chance to bash.

Maybe if he had won an SEC title in the 21st century people would cut him some slack. Funny how actually doing your job keeps people off your back. You think any measurable portion of the OU fan base would consider Bob Stoops a middle of the pack coach in the Big XII? I bet there aren't a lot of Ohio State fans who debate Jim Tressel's standing compared to Joe Tiller. Probably not any USC fans debating Pete Carroll's talents compared to Jeff Tedford's. The fact he is still employed is a disgrace. Nowhere else in college football would a guy be able to parlay one season into lifetime employment.

Don't get me wrong Stoops is a good coach but how has he done in BCS bowls? Getting to a BCS game in the Big 10 or 12 is a much easier task. That is without a doubt.

He's in a BCS bowl almost every year. Fulmer has managed to go eight years without making one. In fact, Fulmer has never made a major bowl since Stoops became a head coach. Also, the Texas teams Oklahoma was beating in the early 2000s was better than anyone in the SEC.

I don't know about that. But they are gonna take 2 Big 12 schools every year and that is usually the only 2 good teams in the conf. your not gonna change my mind and I won't yours so lets do something construvtive. Give me your take on todays BB game.

I'd go:
Meyer
Petrino
Saban
Spurrier
Tuberville
Richt
Miles
Fulmer
Croom
Brooks
Johnson
Nutt

I think each team in the SEc is coached at least fair, there's not a bad coach in the league.

Our beloved Fulmer is a notch or two above the bottom four I listed and is close to Richt, Miles & Tubbs. All four have more balls then Phil that's why I list them ahead of him. The top four: Meyer, Petrino, Saban, Spurrier are so far ahead its not fair to our fans and our university that we compensate a guy over $2 mil and his counterparts are far more better for the job..

Great win. That's the kind of game the selection committee will point to when they begin to assign seeds come March. We still don't value possessions as much as I'd like, but I've resigned myself to the fact that this team just plays that way.
