Dropping to 17th is directly related to a total disrespect for Appt St., which although seems extreme, I could agree with if it was done consistently.

So what happens if (when) they play and beat the canes in a couple of weeks? Will we get those votes back or are they lost regardless?

After the goose egg we dropped Thursday we don't deserve the votes. We want them back win games and do it decisively.

Doubtful! We won't be top 10 again unless we beat VT, Ohio, and then FL

Agreed. The first step toward respect is beating fl. It just makes me sick the way teams like Michigan move up after proving nothing and Texas beating and always overhyped team Is suddenly a juggernaut.

Miami will crush App State. Then more excuses will flow about why Tennessee struggled to beat a Sunbelt team.

I don't like ranking teams first month of the season. look at Texas beating Norte Dame and go from unrated to top 10.are they saying Texas is that good or was Norte Dame that much over rated.

Thank god App State had no kicker or we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

People who say stuff like this are the most ignorant fans on the planet..

If either or both of those kicks were good...it would have changed plays called on the field..which any of those changed plays could have went for touchdowns.

For example..if extra point was good, at the very least..when we scored would have went for 2..

And in actuality it would have changed much more then that.

You can not extrapolate a different outcome to a game from ANY play happening differently except the very last play of the game..

And not even just different play calls happening...fumbles..pick 6's

There is no way to determine what else would happen differently if those kicks were good..it is idiocy to say otherwise.

I dunno...

What did we do last year to deserve a top 10 ranking before we'd played a game THIS season. At least right now we're ranked on what we and other teams did or didn't do last week. Respect is earned as they say. Truth is, we are ranked which might be more respect than we deserve after last week.

Lol, I guess you didn't watch the same game we watched. Below is an article from the Charlotte Observer.
Missed kicks, sloppy clock management cost Appalachian State big against No. 9 Vols | The Charlotte Observer
You could blame this loss on a freshman kicker who missed an extra point and a 42-yard field goal. Had Michael Rubino put either of those attempts through the uprights, Appalachian State would be the biggest story today in college football.

Maybe you're right.

What he should have said was: "Thank god App State didn't recover that fumble in the endzone or we wouldn't even be having this discussion."

Exactly. After that disaster we staggered out of Thursday night, being in the top 20 is more than we deserve.

Does it get anyone in the playoffs? no. Do sportwriters that make Donald and Hillary sound half way intelligent vote in it?yeah
