Where does the Tennessee job rank in the SEC? Which jobs are currently better?

Chris Low said this morning it’s the 5th or 6th Best job in the SEC. Do you agree?

Meaning? :dunno:

Just curious as to what everyone thinks. I’ve said before I think many people tend to overstate where this job ranks nationally. Since Low addressed it today I was curious how many agree with him.

Chris Low is an idiot. While we have had a rough decade, we are easily a Top 10 job in the country. It's hard to say that with the recent results of the program, but the tradition, resources, facilities, and fan base are all there for Tennessee to be elite again.

Historically I would say 2 or 3. In the last 10-years, all things considered, his assessment is probably right.

Alabama, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Auburn, and Texas A&M all have as much or more money and facilities. All have different advantages over the others but UT would be in the middle of this mix.

I think it’s difficult to make the case that Tennessee is a top 10 job in the country.

I read the other day that we were in the teens nation wide in terms of coach's salary. Pretty good indicator, but I think we should/could do better. Only Bama (maybe UF?)has more NT's in the SEC. We are fine if the University will step up and do something big.

If you trust the insiders, the power boosters could be what’s holding this job from being top 5. If we are speaking of job openings at the end of season. IMO it will be the top job in the sec.

I think the national salary ranking may be due more to the conference we’re in than anything.

In the last decade I would put Vols 4th behind Bama, LSU, and Florida with UGA about even with UT. All time I would put UT top 3 in SEC and top 10 in the country.

I'm messing with you. I'm like everybody else on VN, ready for something positive to happen to the football program. I saw a new thread and wanted to be funny. Friends?

Uhm I may be off my rocker BUT I'm pretty sure that your facilities statement is false. UT would sit top 2-3 here. I haven't seen them all but I've seen a handful including most in your list ..

Though I'm biased

I agree with him!

I think Tennessee has the potential to be up there with Bama, FSU, USC, Texas....if the administration makes the right moves and we win.

We had top notch facilities, excellent fan base, a top tier stadium set on the river, excellent gameday traditions and a tradition of football that rivals any of those schools mentioned.

Lol. No worries. Just curious if I’d missed a recent thread on this or something.

Currently, taking into consideration roster, recruiting, athletic department, fanbase and position to win I would probably rank us 5th

1. Alabama
2. Florida
3. Georgia
4. Auburn
5. Tennessee

I would say we’re clearly behind Bama, UF, and probably LSU.

Clearly better than USC, Vandy, UK, mizz, ole miss, msu, Arky.

In solid pack with UGA, a&m and auburn.

So if you said anywhere from 4 to 7, I think that’s accurate.

My ranking

Bama, UF, UGA, LSU, UT, A&M, Auburn, SC, Ark, Ole Miss, UK, State, Mizzou, Vandy

Coin flip between UGA and UF and coin flip between UT and LSU. OUR admin drops us below LSU.

I disagree. 9th all time wins if you exclude Harvard and Yale. I believe we still have 3rd biggest stadium. 1st in revenue and net in the SEC and top 10 in the nation. Bama had over a decade of suck too and completely turned it around with the right hire. Just gotta let go of some money to get the right hire. Money talks.
