The SEC didn't help there ranking by any means this weekend but with that said it was the first weekend. Also the SEC isn't the only conference that looked bad. I could care less about the rest of the SEC. As long as Tennessee gets the W at the end of the day, that's all that matters.

Ranking them with how they are ranked nationally or within the SEC, because to my knowledge USC is the only east team with an SEC victory at this point?

I honestly think mizzou will be the worst team in the East this year, and that's hard to do. They looked horrible yesterday.

I've thought they would be all along. Lost probably their best coach ever, or at least one of the best coaches at up-coaching lesser talent, new AD, and just a lot of distractions on campus all around. I expect them to go winless in the SEC.

If we want to get technical, if we're ranking based on wins alone...

USCe would be #1 given they're the only ones with a conference win.

And that should probably serve as a reminder that the only stat that matters is the Win/Loss column.

I mean, I'm sure LSU, Miss State, and Kentucky all had more impressive in game stats... but regardless, we're 1-0 and theyre 0-1.

I'd either rate Auburn above LSU or tie them. LSU lost to an un-ranked Wisconsin and Auburn took Clemson well into the 4th quarter.

UF played a terrible UMass team that went 3-9 last year while playing the Sisters of the Weak. Heading into the 4th quarter yesterday, Gators were up 10-7. Rather uninspiring.

So, they may be slightly ahead of us, but not by much.

UGA is the team to beat. Chubb bad to the bone. The new QB is going to be outstanding.

The other four in SEC East are terrible. Three horse race to HotLanta.

Now that Les is once again on the hot seat, I'm expecting to see LSU jettison him, barring an SEC title, and go hard after Tom Herman.

I'll only pick a top 4 for the SEC overall because after the top 3 it's shades of brown

Texas A&M

Yeah, this is a lot closer to right than the OP, I think. Of course, we haven't seen Ole Miss play their first game yet, so reserve judgment on them. And LSU didn't look Tier 2 to me (nor did we, being brutally honest). So for me, it currently looks like this with Ole Miss yet to be placed:

Tier One
  • Alabama
Tier Two
  • Georgia
  • A&M
Tier Three
  • Tennessee
  • LSU
  • Auburn
  • Arkansas
  • Florida
Tier Four
  • South Carolina
  • Miss St
  • Kentucky
  • Vanderbilt
  • Mizzou

Love the use of Tiers rather than 1-to-14, GBOV. Fuzzy math calls for fuzzy ordering.

Here's hoping we come out of the Battle at Bristol up in Tier 1 or 2.

Go Vols!

Trevor Knight is a baller, kinda like Mayfield. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if we lose at A&M

Herman is not going anywhere. He's taking Houston into the Big 12 and he's got a lot of big oil money backing the program. Anyone notice the rise of Baylor? That's the same with Houston big money and great recruiting within 100 miles.

Until they prove otherwise, I put LSU at or near the bottom, that offensive line is real bad. Wow, I'm actually kind of shocked how bad that was.

You guys are so prisoner of the moment. Overreacting like crazy to just one week of games.

Nothing that happened this weekend has changed my preseason rankings.

I'm sticking with:

(Tier 1)
1. Tennessee
2. Alabama
3. LSU

(Tier 2)
4. Texas A&M
5. Georgia
6. Auburn
7. Florida

(Tier 3)
8. Arkansas
9. Ole Miss
10. Miss St.

(Tier 4)
11. Kentucky
12. Mizzou
13. South Carolina
14. Vanderbilt

You're probably right in the long run, but it's just an evaluation after 1 week. Time will tell.

Its one game. My God. At this time last year everyone thought Stanford would lose 7 games. They nearly made the playoff.

LSU traveled to a hostile environment far from home. They foolishly tried to put the game on Harris' shoulders. If they stuck to their bread and butter (running Fournette) they would have won.

Their defense looks much better than last year.

I'm not ready to overreact. I didn't think they could beat Alabama but I thought they could finish second in the west.

Lot of season left to play guys.

No! Take the orange colored glasses off. UT should be behind UF and maybe ahead of Arkansas. That is realistically what I saw from watching these teams.

No way UT should be below UF. Appy St would demolish UMass and UF was up 10-7 going into the 4th quarter. UMass is historically one of the worst teams in the country.
