Ranking kickoff times for vol fans

This is a good question. When I was younger night games were definitely my favorite. Now that I’m older and a dad, I tend to favor the early noon game, especially the later it gets in the season.

The SEC should pass a rule making it illegal to kickoff before 6:00 in September.

330 is my favorite. 8pm games on too late and I tend to not remember the details the next day. Absolutely hate nooners.

Yes 330, 4pm sec network, 6pm ESPN 2 when they have a 915 pac12 or other conference late game is perfect too. But i love night games. 7pm lets go! I'll invite every single one of you to my tailgate! In fact, one game this year im going to do one in 11th St garage or c21 with a DJ, food like bbq, burgers and snacks, and plenty of adult beverages, but also family friendly like I did for battle of Bristol. I will post here beforehand. No charge.

Time Zones mean everything. I am not bothered by a 6Pm or later kickoff as I am 2 hours behind EST.

With that said, I like 12:00 EST for cupcake games, 3:30 for game of the weeks and 8:00 EST for the middle tier games.

I usually fall asleep to those West Coast shoot-outs that start at 10PM MST.

I guess that's another good point is that if you are attending the game, a night game or twilight game with no sun in the eyes is great for Sept, Oct but a day game is better for Nov-Jan due to weather.

Virtually all home games were 2PM prior to expansion of TV. If you weren't there, you had the transistor radio at your ear listening to John Ward. Night games were usually road games and 7PM. Late afternoon games were special adjustments for TV. The first night game was around 1972 because I remember waking to listen and it was during Viet Nam.

August and September: 8:00 pm start
October and November: 3:30 pm start
December and January: noon or 1:00 pm start

I'ts "avoid the heat" followed by "chase the heat," heh.

For me and many other overseas Vols, the earlier the better. Budapest is 6 hours ahead of EST so a noon game means I can begin watching at 6pm my time. A 3:30 game means I'm in my chair at 9:30pm. Unfortunately (for me), a lot of the big games come on at 8pm EST, which means I'm up from 2am to 6am watching my guys play.

I know, I know, I'm a whiner! :)

Btw, guys in the far east might like the later games because they can watch them Sunday morning (unless they have to get up and preach, like a few I know!).

I love the 12-3:30 games. What kills me, during playoffs, is when both teams are from theceast and they start at 9pm!

I've gotten to where I prefer night games. After we lose it takes all the fun out if watching any more and I'm done watching football for the weekend, so the later the better.

Saturday is a regular workday for me now, so I actually get to watch the game if it's an 11am kickoff. Other than that I have to listen to Kesling at my desk.

Yikes! No Vol fan should ever have to listen to him..Whover made the decision to hire Kesling to follow a legend should be throat punched. I think he's worse than that Yankee calling Bammer games. I would love to steal Mike Keith from the Titan's.

I hadn't thought about that, but it is absolutely true for me, too.

Here's hoping that becomes a problem of the past, rather than an ongoing worry. :good!:

11 am games for weak out of conference opponents.
2:30 for Alabama
6pm for everything else.
(Everything in Central Time)

If I had it my way that is.
I believe there are enough TV stations that cover college football to mandate these be the only time slots.

Pretty much the same as my post and I'm in Mountain Time.

I prefer night games. A 3:30 game is fine as well (preferably after September). Anything earlier than that leaves little to no time for tailgating which is half the fun for us.
