As an Alabama fan I can tell you that the Bama vs barn rivalry is much more important than, the game with LSU. Of course Bama LSU has had more implications the last couple of years, and looks to probably be the case this year. Auburn sucking and all.

the choices on the list are for THIS YEAR not all time.

and the article ranks us at 2 and UM/OSU at 7

as for my list of rivalry games that I'm looking forward to for THIS YEAR
UF-UT
OU-UTx
UF-UGA
Bama-LSU
OSU-Mich
Akry-Miss
TXAM-TT
BC-VT
UCLA-USC
Wazzou-UW

there's better rivalries out there for sure, but from those I just can't get myself that pumped to watch the last three. But I'm starving for football so I'd take any games right now.

The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party is not a rivalry. It's a foregone conclusion. Since 1990 UGA has won three whole games against Florida.

As for Washington and WSU, while the teams suck, the fans generally hate each other. This year the UW was trying to get state funding for a much needed stadium renovation, and WSU fans picketed the state capitol. CLK talking smack is one thing, but protesting the proposed renovation of a stadium built in the 1900's is pretty rough.

If I'm wearing orange glasses, it's Tennessee vs. Alabama.

If I'm not, Harvard-Yale by far is the best.

I think that is the oldest, with MU-KU being 2nd oldest.
Could be wrong about Harvard Yale.

Are we talking just Division 1(both 1-A and 1-AA), or all of college football.

It's Amherst-Williams if it's all of football. If we're talking both D-1 divisions, then yes, that is the oldest.

My Top 10 and explinations...

1. OU v Texas (self-explanitory. both programs have had great success)
2. OSU v Michigan (big ten, yuck, but huge if your a fan)
3. UF v UGA (onesided but means more on the national stage)
4. UT v UF (its been very onesided latley)
5. USC v UCLA (historic, but UCLA will slowly get back to prominence IMO)
6. Bama v LSU (huge game no doubt, but the hype has been greater since CS got there)
7. BC v VT (meh, both are good as far as ACC standards are...)
8. Ark v Ole Miss (as far as SEC, there are better. Ole Miss isnt usually that great either)
9. A&M v Tech (Tech is a new B12 power. A&M has been in a few down years)
10. Wash v Wazzu (who really cares anymore outside of Washington?)

UT v Bama is the best IMO. Harvard v Yale is classic. UF v FSU still has its moments. and i miss the days of USC v Notre Lame when it was actually a good game...

oh, and who can forget UT v Vandy/Kentucky

If the new staff can turn things around against UF, I think we will see that game launch to the top of the list because I think both fans bases truly hate each other like nowhere else in the country. I don't think there will be anymore playing not to lose instead of playing to win on the part of UT. Also, I hate rivalry games being played at a neutral site. I think it lessens that feeling of a true rivalry. It would be cool to see UGA go into the swamp or UF going to Athens. That would just add to the game.

i agree with you there. thats what Richt wants, but our Budy Urby is, qoute, a "traditionalist" and doesnt want to change things up. Richts arguement is that its not fair being "neutral" because Jacksonville is clearly in UF territory, therefore more or less a home game for them anyways. thats more than likely the main reason CUM doesnt want to go to Athens and play. loses the edge, not that hes needed it too much latley.

49-14....

While I understand the need to incite fans to respond to polls like this, I have much more respect when thoughtful and reasonable sports journalists come up with rational measurements of the best rivalries in college football and then, using those measurements, make a pick. Any other method is just goosing the fans to pick the rivalry that THEIR TEAM is in.

I admit to being prejudiced on this, so I pose this question to all: imagine that your hated rival's campus was only 13 miles from yours and that you rubbed elbows with its evil alumni at every turn - at work, at social events, on the road. That's what the SC-UCLA rivalry is about.

A rivalry game that I always loved is the Georgia-Auburn "Oldest Rival in the Deep South". Like TN and AL, this rivalry has went just a little bit down hill because of the conference split up. As far as that list goes, it sucked for the most part. I believe ESPN was just doing based on the 2009 season's most anticipated rivalries.

Best rivalries that are usually good games are:

Iron Bowl
OSU MI (despite OSU dominating recently)
Red River Shoot Out

Tennessee vs. Alabama is my favorite all time rivalry, Texas - Oklahoma, Alabama - Auburn, Ohio State - Michigan are a few others that come to mind.

True, but it's less one-sided than tOSU versus Michigan. Zook helped us with that.

No it was Pat Forde and he's part of the espn douchebag club as well.

Follow the link and he wrote about all the rivalries

Basically he said: blah blah, lane kiffin is an obnoxious pathetic attempt at a coach blah blah blah my name is pat forde, i'm a huge moron, just look at my top 10 best rivalries for proof..

I knew it was Forde, I was being sarcastic because of all the crap Low has wrote lately.

Like those have said, this is a very incomplete list. It should be titled "the most famous rivalries" or "most watched rivalries". How Army-Navy is not on there is a amazing to me. There are many very heated rivalries across the country in college football in every conference big and small. We (Ohio) are have been rivals with Miami of Ohio for over a century. The schools hate each other since they were established in 1804 and 1805, and for the 15-20K students at each school (and the alumni) there is no bigger rivalry. Heck, our marching band got into a fight with their football team during halftime a few years ago. Obviously people around the country do not no about this rivalry, but it doesn't make it less intense because it's on a smaller scale.

Bama-Ole Miss has turned into a pretty inpressive rivalry too. Even though Bama has won the past4, they've all been by less than 4 points. The game has always gone dow to the last drive. It's definitely an emerging rivalry in the conference. If Ole Miss pulls out a W this year, it could really turn into a fierce rivalry. That is, as long as Houston Nutt can recruit to replace Coach O's players.
