Neal said he's still working on getting back into shape after sitting out with that knee injury, but he doesn't sound overly confident that his knee will be completely, 100 percent healthy until after the season. "Just one of those things, I'll work through it.

Ouch, that doesn't sound good at all.

The entire RN situation since camp has been a puzzle to me - how does the #2 RB suddenly become the #3 WR?

At least that's some explanation, but how can the kid play at all if he's got any kind of knee injury?

There is a difference between playing with an injury and playing with pain. Sounds like Neal is playing with the latter. He will be OK.

With someone whose main asset is his speed though, I can see how a bad knee could hurt his production for us.

This is not a sudden change. Dooley had mentioned in the preseason that they were trying out Neal at the 3rd WR position.
This especially became feasible after we had Lane performing in the preseason.

Not to be that guy but could we be seeing a transfer here?

Nah, i just read an article about him. He said he is excited to finally get on the field, and the injuries have kept him off the field. Rajion said the coaches wanted to take it slow with him and not put him out there too fast.

Moving Neal to WR is a BONEHEAD move. If I'm not mistaken he was injured at WR in camp.

Neal is a Tailback...give him the rock and let him run it. It amazes me that Coaches can't see that backs need to get in a rhythm just like a QB. Last year they woud run him one or two plays then take him out. That doesn't develop that rhythm.

Thanks coach.

LWS just posted some confirmation of Neal issues on another thread. Kids got something underlying that has him out of the good graces and or just off the field.

Umm, no.

If there is no injury, where is the pain coming from?

Pain subsides before healing is complete. Return too early in the healing process and you turn an acute injury into a chronic nagging injury or worse! Truly a tough part to figure out with high calibur athletes!

Muscular soreness even joint soreness after injury is common. It is part of reconditioning.
True injury type pain should not be "played through"

Sometimes hard for athlete/trainer/doc to differentiate.

Things are starting to make sense now. LWS = solid source.

Neal wouldn't turn down KR duty.

How about the problem with the ground game being that they need a REAL Running back coach and not a "GRAD ASSISTANT".

Coach Russell said the same thing about Neal not wanting to be a returner. So you have a coach and one of the more respected posters on this site saying the same thing. Yup, sounds like bull to me too.

Interesting that Lane accepted KR duty moved to 2nd team RB
Neal didn't moved to 3rd team WR

So it's the coaches fault and not Neal's? :eek:k:

Didn't say that. But NONE of the Backs are producing.:ermm:

It's virtually impossible to have four Runningbacks that are DUDs. The O-Line isn't horrible or Bray wouldn't be producing in the passing game either.

So where is the problem...
