Raiders assistant leaves to join Kiffin with Vols

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) -- Interim Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable lashed out at assistant offensive line coach James Cregg on Monday, saying he quit on the Raiders by leaving with two games left in the season to join former coach Lane Kiffin's staff at Tennessee.

Cregg told Cable of his decision to depart the Raiders on Sunday night, telling him he was taking a job with the Volunteers.

Cable said Monday that Cregg quit on him, the organization and the team.

It's the latest strike in the feud between Kiffin and Raiders owner Al Davis, which started a year ago when Kiffin wanted to interview for the head coaching job at Arkansas before finishing his first season in Oakland.

Davis tried to get Kiffin to resign in the offseason, but the coach refused. Then Kiffin spent the next months criticizing personnel and other decisions he said were made by Davis before getting fired Sept. 30.

After reading this....LOL, it's pretty much a F You Al Davis. I mean Tom really can't be mad at the dude, he screwed over Kiffin.....so no need to get mad about stuff. As they say, payback is a bitch!

Yea.. this is about a week old.. Cable will only have a job for one more week anyway so he will have plenty time to call Kiffin then..

I knew that he had been hired, but just noticed the article i posted. Thought it was pretty funny!

I didn't realize he was just leaving them up and dry to come here though!

Well, would you want to stay and coach the Raiders any longer than you had to? If I had an offer on the table, you can bet my ass would be gone in a flash.
