"While it is still just purely speculation, but rumors are beginning to swirl that Rage Against the Machine will end their six year hiatus with a performance at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival this spring.

An event spokesperson was not available for comment on the possibility of a Rage performance.

After Rage split in 2000, guitarist Tom Morello formed Audioslave with his old band's rhythm section of Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk. However, Audioslave is on hiatus while frontman Chris Cornell records a solo album and has no plans to tour in support of its third album, "Revelations," released last fall.

And while Audioslave refused to play Rage songs live on its early tours, the band eventually began incorporating them into its sets in summer 2005.

As for Rage frontman Zach de la Rocha, little has been heard from him since the breakup, although he is said to be on good terms with his ex-bandmates."
this would be awesome

As long as they write music like they did from the self-titled or Bulls on Parade (I think that was the name of the 2nd record), and NOT Battle of Los Angeles, I'll be happy.

The Audioslave albums have gotten progressively worse. I figured they wouldn't last much longer after Cornell started doing his own thing. But this appears to just be for a one time gig or something...

right now it's a one time thing, but they'll see the response they get and go on tour.

Make that 26, Hat. Rage is the antithesis to all the things I hate about mainstream music. They had a POINT, they MADE IT, and they had TALENT.

Rock on and I hope to catch them live, should this happen.

They are nothing but Linkin Park with bad clothes and haircuts. Phony, packaged anger as a marketing schtick. The only machine they really rage against is any ATM that doesn't spit out their cash fast enough.

=Evil Empire

Battle of LA got too "Rap/Rock" for me. Too much funk.

A reformed RATM would be a huge draw.

Hat, I think you underestimate how big they really are or was.

They played/protested at a Democratic Party shin-dig.

Shut down NYSE.

Stood on stage Naked for 15 minutes to protest the PMRC.

Along with speaking out against many other things.

I didn't buy into everything they were trying to speak out against but I don't chalk up their cause to "marketing schtick". They would have been just as sucessful sitting at home and not doing anything they saw as "progressive to society".

EDIT: By the way it's offical: Rage Against the Machine will reunite for Coachella!!
also.....

One of the best live shows I have seen. The funny thing is I just busted out the first album this weekend at a buddies house and we remarked on how good it was. Would love to see them put some more stuff together.

I am a long time fan and have seen them live twice....Guess I am going to have to find a way to Cali to see them again! Hopefully this will lead to a new era of RATM....

Rage live is awesome. One of the best shows I've seen. Got to see them on a few occasions. I'd love to see them get back out. I've been hoping Zach would get some new stuff out but that's been few and far between.

ARRGGHH!!

Had tickets to see RATM, Beastie Boys, and Stone Temple Pilots at RFK stadium.

Beastie Boy broke his collar bone, tour cancelled. Best concert I never got to see.

No band will ever top the feeling you get when you see Dillenger Escape Plan live.

Fear? or is it Panic?
