Irwin has come out and said that he's not ready for a coaching change.
i think i heard him say that he was not ready to get rid of fulmer, but that he thought that someone at the assistant level needs to be evaluated. sounded like he has someone in his sights as the problem (the D backs coach, maybe?). irwin has griped about the secondary for quite a while (with good reason), and just said that the last really smash mouth DB that we had was dale carter -- long ago.
That guy is clearly delusional. This whole game had fulmer's fat thumb print on it.Yeah... but it was kind of weird/cryptic, because he pointed out that he wasn't ready for Fulmer to leave, but he then said that someone's position needed to be re-evaluated. Then he talked about knowing Fulmer very well, and saying that he knows Fulmer wouldn't have punted late in the game. Apparently, he was insinuating that the decison to punt isn't on Fulmer and that this mystery coach is a suspect for needing to be replaced.
Weird...
agree -- weird and cryptic comments on irwin's part. i wish that he could just come out and say it straight.
Foster was averaging over five yards per rush when we punted on both of the fourth and short midfield. Also, why when we are gaining some serious yards rushing do we try a little stupid throw for two yards on 3rd down instead of just running it down their throats? I even called it while I was watching it. If I can see it, defensive coordinators can see it and expect it.
which is why i didn't agree that sanders' play calling was the source of TN's woes. some of the stuff i've seen from cut looks just like RS.
i do think getting cut was a good move, and that he is a much better QB coach than RS. i just never thought that a new OC was going to save the day and that has proven to be true.
