Former Nashville sports radio host and avid Volunteer died this morning. Known to some as the play-by-play voice on the p.p.v. games in years past.

Bob was all class. Tough seeing him and Haywood Harris leaving at the same time. I loved listening to Bob on WLAC at nights as I lived in three different states. At that time he was my Big Orange connection. The only bad part was listening to Bill King.

Whew, thanks I fmp. That is what happens when you think of the dynamic duo for a period of 40 years.

Bob and Bill used to be the only sports radio we had in Nashville. Bob was even on TV as a sportscaster at Nashville Channel 8 40 years ago. Always enjoyed him. Sad to see him go.

My dad worked with Bob at Channel 2 when I was a young kid. I remember meeting Bob, and he was a class act to a young kid as well. We'll miss you Bob. RIP

He used to live off Flewellyn rd(sp?) in the Coopertown area.

I remember when he was doing a afternoon show called "The Sports Guys"with coach Boots Donnelly and Jonathan Shaffer on 106.7 the fan he would make comments about the Coopertown police.

RIP Bob,you will be missed.

You got that right. Bob Bell and Charlie McAlexander made Bill King on their WLAC show. Now I can't stand listening to that blowhard on satellite radio, waxing like he knows everthing......In reality just a little man that, basically, knows no more than you or me, but tries to not be provincial by avoiding discussing Tennessee on his morning show.

I think he spent most of his last years in Cross Plains.
