Just like Aaron Rodgers says, relax. I understand that this was an emotional game, I am furious that we lost also. We as fans need to check ourselves before we start calling for people's jobs and losing our damn minds though. These players put their blood, sweat, and tears into every game and are more VFL than any of us. There would be a whole different reaction on this board if the refs would have called the delay of game before the field goal. Would you, Volnation, still be acting a fool if we walked away with a 9-7 victory? I think not. Be mad Volnation, but don't misplace your rage and aggression towards the players or coaches. Stay classy my friends

When players are mostly freshmen and the coaches are mid major results like this should be expected. Back to the 6-6 original projection. Still, the last 2 games were winnable with some help from the staff. I don't see any x and o geniuses on this side of the ball.

Rationalize all you want, but can you objectively look at this coaching staff, as a whole and say, "they know how to win"?

I cannot.

I don't post many times on here. I usually allow for a cool down period, which usually allows me to take a deep breath and just go about my business. However, there are some things that should be said in regard to this game.

First, only half of the team showed up today. The entire offense looked like hell, and the OC should be held accountable for that, and in relation so should CBJ. The offensive line, and qb play all regressed from last week, and that is on the coaching staff.

Second, yes Worley can take a hit, yes he also provides our best option to win. But lets just call it how it is, we have a qb in a read option offense that doesn't use one of the options. Either make him run, or pull his sorry butt. Today he cost his team by his poor decision making, and his lack of willingness to execute the offense as it is intended to be ran.

Third, our oline better be running until they puke the next week. They didn't belong on the field today. They were unprepared, and represented the University of Tennessee horribly. They are in their third game together as a unit, and what we all saw today should not happen.

Finally, CBJ can recruit like there is no tomorrow. He is recruiting the nations top talent to a university that has been losing in the worst possible way for too long. I give him the most respect I can for what he and his staff are doing to bring in the talent we need. However, at some point the 3rd down for whats, the tweets with rappers, and the rest of this ra ra ra stuff needs to end. We get it, the UT program has #swagger. However, #swagger doesn't put #pointsonthescoreboard, so the team can #win.

The offense coaching staff, and butch, need to put black stripes on their hats and shirts, because today they coached like freshmen that haven't earned their time on the field.:thud:

32 at Athens and 9 at home to a very terrible gator team that still is better than us! Looking more like a Big East 3.2 million dollar mistake.

And never will be again. Programs fall, some don't ruse again. I do believe that time is upon us, and has been for years. If this was said in 2011, it'd be considered too soon.

But is it now? We have had a losing record every year since 2008, minus a 7-6 record in 2009. Woop-de-doo.

Face it, we've fallen and won't rise again. The sooner we stop thinking it's 1994 instead of 2014, the sooner you can all be happy again. Cheers.

Ditto- try just not caring , it isn't worth having a stoke over. We may never be elite again. I hope Mike Hamilton is proud of himself, cause he is the main reason we are in football hell.

I've heard similar every year for almost 10 years lol.
Actually, this team has been deficient in one or more position group for the past several years. To win in the SEC and big games, you have to solve your deficiencies via recruiting. We have done a remarkable job thus far....except on the OL. Butches first 2 classes have yielded poor results. That is on this staff, and it's the lone reason we have lost the past 3 games.

If Blair is THAT bad, that, coming from the JUCO ranks, he can't even beat out a walk-on and a True Freshman, then what does that say for their OL evaluation abilities.

They are playing a true freshman at RG, as well, that wasn't even practicing with the OL until half-way through fall camp. They recruited Weisman in their 1st class. So, that's at least 2 evaluation busts. Or lack of development. Or inability to evaluate OL talent once on the roster.

They need to hit some homeruns at OL recruiting, THIS class, if they want to recover sooner, rather than later.

Exactly how much historical perspective do you have as a Vol fan? I have 47 years and I can tell you that, from 1969-1985, we suffered through 16 agonizingly long years without an SEC championship team. The '85 Sugar Vols whetted our collective appetite for what would become the longest sustained period of excellence (1989-2001) during the modern era of Tennessee football history. We are again mired in a 16-year drought but one in which Butch is clearly engaged in a major process of rearmament.

I most certainly do not share your skepticism. In those 47 years, I have witnessed every program in the country go through peaks and valleys. The programs that are regarded as traditional powers are considered such because their peaks are higher and more sustained and their valleys typically are less severe and of shorter duration. I have every confidence that Tennessee will return to its rightful place among those elite powers once again. However, the best way to fulfill your prophecy of doom-and-gloom is to adopt a kneejerk revolving-turnstile approach to the head coaching position wherein we fire the incumbent every three or four years.
