Not sure how many people are aware of this, but the r/cfb subreddit is simulating the season right now. An Auburn fan has been putting up a poll every MWF for each week in the next season. Redditors vote on who they think will win each game and the results determine the probability of winning for each team. A random number generator predicts the winner. The person who runs it then compiles the results and provides his own narrative for how some of the big games play out. Week 7 just finished and the Vols pulled and upset over Bama who was favored to start the season 7-0. Here is how the TSIO played out.

Undefeated Alabama visits undefeated Tennessee in the week's biggest game. A turning point occurs near the end of the first half, when Nick Saban, livid at the officiating crew, draws his second unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, and as per new rule 9-2-6, is ejected from the game. As a result, offensive coordinator and former Tennessee head coach Joey Freshwater Lane Kiffin is forced into serving as the acting head coach for the second half. With Kiffin calling the shots on the opposing sideline, Tennessee comes back from a two-touchdown deficit, and wins thanks to a last-second field goal. Kicker Aaron Medley caps it off with a Geiger Windmill celebration towards midfield. During the post-game press conference, Kiffin pops off a Gundy-esque tirade, calling the game, the refs, and the color orange "a big fat PHONY" and saying "we WILL beat them in the rematch in Atlanta." Later, Les Miles criticizes Kiffin's remarks, calling them "presumptive," and says "there is nothing phony about Saturday night in Death Valley." Kiffin responds via tweet, "How is it presumptive? You know Bama always wins rematches." ... As for Tennessee, the victory propels them to a #1 ranking in the AP, Coaches', and /r/cfb Polls. The Tennessee /r/cfb logo sits in the center of the subreddit header. The Vols are relevant again.

So an auburn fan poll, on reddit ...
predicts we probably lose the game ...
but the random number generator came up "upset" so we win?
Seriously?

The vote finished at 68% Bama 32% us so we have a 32% chance of winning. He used a random number generator to generate a number. If that number is greater than 68%, we win. If it is below 68%, they win. The random number generator came up with a 72 so we won. This is a typical method used when predicting outcomes with probability distributions (think flipping a coin for a 50/50 decision).

I just flipped an actual coin and it landed on heads. In my head I said tails never fails but I chose heads at the last second when I saw it was gonna land on heads. That being said, were gonna win in a nail biter.

If the Vols beat Bama in Knoxville, there's a very high chance they won't meet them again in Atlanta. Bama hasn't run the SEC West since 2009. Not sure they can this yr with MAJOR questions at Qb and RB. Another SEC loss will probably elimisnte them especially if the loss is to another West team even with 2 losses (Bama wouldnt own the tie breaker.
