It's been little things, but Sutton's leadership has been evident from spring ball and through a handful of fall practices.

As one of Tennessee's four permanent captains this season, Sutton knows he is someone who is looked to on the team, a player that not only needs to lead by example but also help coach the Vols younger players up.

It's not a trait that has always suited Sutton, a quiet but confident defensive back, but one he has come to realize as a senior is just as important as making plays on Saturday.

“I'm trying to do all the little things, all the right things because it's bigger than me,” Sutton said Thursday. “I'm trying to impact all the players around me. Not just because I'm a senior, but we need each and every player to come together collectively,” he added. “When we have players drifting off to the sides, bring those guys back in because they haven't been here before or experienced it before. That senior role.”

The leaders on this team are saying all the things you want them to. Great to hear. Now, let's get those wins.

Quiet leadership is leadership. Loud leadership is direction/management. A leader is invaluable. Mr Sutton is taking the role that has been largely vacant since Peyton Manning. Between him and Jalen Reeves-Maybin, the defense is being led. Dobbs seems to have the offense under his guidance. JRM is probably the sideline pumper and that is key at times.

It bodes well.

GO BIG ORANGE!

Not sure we have seen leadership like this since '98. And then it was mostly just Al Wilson refusing to lose and having everyone around him scared to eff up so as not to incur his wrath. (somewhat tongue in cheek...somewhat)

We seem to have key guys on both sides of the ball not just teaching the younger players, but holding themselves and everyone around them accountable for their actions.

This a very, very good sign.

This Tennessee has all the right leaders in all the right places. Reminds me of the 98 team. That team had leaders as well. I can't wait to GET IT ON!!! I'm losing my mind waiting on Sept 1st!
