on my way out for the evening:
1. Tennessee saved their season with that homestand. A loss in any of those games would have been problematic for our March aspirations.
2. Joe Crawford is going to a stone solid NBA player. He'll never be a star, but he'll help some team.
3. Great to see the fans embrace Bernard as they did. He seemed to be genuinely touched.
4. Ramar Smith will be one of the 5 best combo guards in the nation next year. He will also play for a decade in the NBA.
5. What delineates great executives from good ones is attention to detail. RC Buford made a move tonight that shows why he is one of the best. He got the Spurs the inside help they need, Melvin Ely, without giving up anything of substance.

Agreed on all 5.

Regarding R. Smith: how much more valuable will he be if he improved his FT shooting to around 75-80%?

1. Agree
2. Hate to admit it, but agree. Wouldn't have about a month ago.
3. Yup, loved to see Bernie and Ernie in the house tonight! Great night, great game, great alums.
4. :)
5. What the heck is this doing on the Volboard? :)

Ramar has got to the point now where you're surprised if he has an off game. Good stuff. Don't think he scored in the first half, but he came on in the second and had 7 points pretty quickly, not sure how many he ended up with. Would've had several more if some of those layups would've dropped where he got to the basket.

He ended with 10 points, but only 1 assist.

All in all, Tennessee had 8 turnovers and 25 assists. That's pretty good..

Ramar sat with foul trouble for at least 10 min in the first half if not more.

How many turnovers?

It seemed like he was trying to score more with his driving to the basket, which is all good when he's scoring.

ESPN doesn't list him in the turnover portion of the boxscore, thus ... 0.

Yes, Ramar is listed with 0 turnovers. That is the most important turn around in his game. He is taking care of the ball. Not just decently, but great. His turnover numbers since the beginning of January have been amazing. He is able to constantly get penetration to the basket and create shots for himself or teammates. He will finish better as he matures and that will only makes his numbers improve that much more. Still waiting on him to take it to another level on defense. With his athleticism and quickness he has that capability.

2. You are correct. Crawford was impressive against Florida, but he was better tonight. He is finally living up to his billing, a fact which makes Kentucky a much better team. With Morris, they now have two legit big time college players.

3. It is always good to see an all-time great come home. It is a shame it took so long.

4. I would wait a bit on that call, but he was certainly impressive for a freshman. Kentucky out-athleted our guards all night, except for Ramar. He outplayed both UK freshmen, and unlike the rest of our backcourt, he could go toe to toe with Crawford and Bradley from an athletic standpoint.
