Around 35. There are a few threads that go into more detail. I would search the forum to find the results you seek. I'm thinking around 35. I'm basing that off what I have read on here.

Short answer: nobody really knows

Long answer: Nobody really knows because about 66% of Team 118 will be redshirt sophomores or younger. And there’s no telling how many more players are going to be Sabanized. There are about 11 or so seniors who will graduate next year, so it could be a tiny class...or some guys could move on and it could be a big class.

25 or 85 - roster at end of 2014, which ever is lesser. I know we cant back count anything unless people fail to qualify.

I'd expect him to shoot for as close to 30 recruits as possible, but I would say no one is really sure for 3 reasons. 1.) We don't know if we can actually sign 35 guys in this class as the SEC could tell us that they won't recognize the loopholes. 2.) They could change the rules after this years class, since the SEC doesn't like what we are trying to do. 3.) We Don't know how many guys will transfer during the spring, as I am sure a few will if it looks like an underclassman will knock them down a peg in the rotation. I think the only thing we are sure of is that Butch will try and get as many guys as possible to speed up the rebuilding process.

He's asking about the 2015 class. Reading some of your responses I get the feeling some of you are giving answers on 2014.

Considering the fact that we will probably have no back counts next year and the fact that we could be signing some of 2015 with Gray shirts and blue shirts this year, the class could be as small as 15 but not likely larger than 20. Who the heck really knows though. I have had the number placed at 30 and we are signing 34 apparently. :D

Hopefully there will be a few good free agents looking to sign with UT. Oh wait. Were not Alabama or apparently now Auburn as most would leave us to believe on here. But all kidding aside. I would say between 15 and 20. With at least 2 or 3 Juco OL and DL just to add quicker depth at those two positions. High priority put on a QB and another stud RB and a couple WR's. Then fill out the rest of the class with an assortment of players with Quality speed because Butch keeps quoting building overall team speed. Just a rambling thought of mine.

There are currently 22 juniors on the team, so I would guess that we sign around 25 in 2015.


You would guess that we will have the usual 3 players that leave the team each season and then add the 22 current juniors, who will be playing their last season, in 2014.

Definitely, agree with your thoughts. I would be really surprised if there are any back counts. If we get 34-35 in the 2014 class, all of those above 30 will need to count against the 25 class. 25 limit - 5 greyshirts = 20. I think 20 is the number. Put on your seatbelt, it's going to be a wild ride!!!!:)

No way to say because:
1)No one knows how much attrition will hit the 85 limit.
2)No one knows how many blueshirt or greyshirt players will count forward to next year.
3)No one knows the staff current strategy for getting all these players on scholarship and what loophole they have and/or whether that loophole is closed by the NCAA.

If I had to guess I would say the staff figures out a way to get 25 players next year.

Hope you are right. We sure need to build quality depth ASAP.

If we get 35 good guys this year we are effectively getting 2 highly ranked classes in one year. If we only get 15-20 next year you can trust they will be good. We have to double down now. A must.
