Anyone staying here or ever stayed here I reserved my room here I hope it is not a dump I didn't want to give my leg neither. The most i know about this place is it close to the dome.

Rather than staying right next to the Georgia Dome, I would recommend staying in the Perimeter Mall/Dunwoody area, and then take MARTA into and out of the Dome. There are tons of nice hotels in the Dunwoody area, many of which within walking distance of the MARTA train station, and you'll get much more bang for your dollar.

When in doubt, never book a room at a place called the Castleberry Inn. :)

Just take your own sheets and a lot of Lysol.

Oh geez.....you're really not staying THERE are you? Just kidding, it's OK, stayed there a few times on business, but that was a couple of years ago.

There's no law against buying from a scalper, is there? Like...if the scalper isn't outside of 2,700 feet...that's their problem, correct?

I have heard from UGA fans that the good scalpers are at the CNN center.

Don't ask me for directions cause I don't know, and Im also not sure how reliable this source is.

I know exactly where it is...been to Philips Arena for several hockey games...

Actually, planning on taking the MARTA to the game...the station is in the CNN Center.

I stayed there in 04. OK overall, but the sheets are brown and stiff, and my bathroom had a moldy aroma.

I booked my room through priceline's name your own price. I'm staying a little ways away from the dome in kennesaw at the Extended Stay America. But for $25 a night its worth having to drive 20 miles to the dome. The motel looks nice and says its just been renovated on extended stays website. I tried $20 but no motels would accept that offer.

Well, "OK" was probally a little to positive. However, the room was quiet and the service was helpful.

HEHE Thanks guys I choose this place because it was close enough to walk to the dome I heard parking around the dome was around 50 bucks. 78 dollars a night

I have no idea about the hotel, but having gone to school in Atlanta I can tell you that I wouldn't sleep in that area of town without a kevlar vest and an armed guard at my door.

I have to strongly disagree here. Perimeter/Dunwoody is way too far. If you're coming to Atlanta to see the game and have fun, you dont want to stay in the suburbs!

Would you go to Nashville and stay in Cookeville?

Would you go to Knoxville and stay in Cleveland, TN?

haha.

Plus, MARTA is to be avoided at all costs. It is the worst public transit system ever.

78 dollars a night

I'm not saying you haven't found a great deal, but you really need to do some research. It's a little odd that a hotel within walking distance of one of the largest convention/event complexes in the world is less than $80 on a weekend with a major sporting event going on.

what's wrong with Marta?

After the 2004 Championship game, the traffic on MARTA was OUT OF CONTROL.

We waited for 45 minutes for a train, when we actually were able to get on it, it was slammed like Tokyo subways at rush hour.

We went 2 stations down the line, and the train broke down! We were forced to return to street level and fight for a taxi....not an easy thing.

Trust me...dont mess with MARTA on SECCG night.

I agree with this, also.

My fiancee works at the Glenn....it's less than 200 yards from the GA Dome. Their standard rates are $240/night.

Add on the game tax, and I'm betting it would be $300+

An $80 hotel in downtown ATL sounds very sketchy.

I understand this is a 2 star hotel I am going to take my own liens just in case. I don't like paying a war pension for a hotel room ill only be in for a couple of hours but I didn't see any thing about it being in a bad neighborhood

The taxi situation in Atlanta is nonexistent. I've never had an issue with MARTA for an SECCG or a bowl game, but part of that may be that I've ridden it so much that I know where to go.

I would advise people to look for hotels not on the north side, but on the North and East side of town. If you do that, you can jump on MARTA at the Vine City stop (1 stop past the "official" GA Dome stop). Then you'll be on the East/West line and can ride it all the way out to the end at Indian Creek without the hassle of switching trains and you are right on I-285 and will be able to get anywhere on the East/Northeast side of town very easily.

now dont get me wrong, I'm not saying you'll get mugged or anything....

I'm just saying that for 80 bucks a night, you prolly wont have clean sheets!

yuck!

I'll second this. GAVol, where did you go to school? State? Tech?

One of my not so fondest memories was visiting GA Tech to see a friend in 96 and walking across the North Avenue bridge at night to get to the Varsity. That was a pretty enlightening experience. :)
