I have a couple of questions for you all if you don't mind about the 3rd Saturday in October.
My wife and I will be attending the game for the first time and will be driving up that Friday.
1. Places to stay? We will possibly be using our time share in Gatlinburg, but suggestions would be welcomed.

2. Places to park? Cost?

3. Places to tailgate?

4. Places to eat? Again, we may stay in Gatlinburg, but Knoxville establishments would be welcomed.

I appreciate the help and hope I can return the favor. I expect a helluva game!!

Fans there during that weekend.
Just follow the elephant herd to eating spots thru Sevierville to Knoxville.
Ye ole Steakhouse is on way to game if it's at night.
Great food at reasonable prices.

Sorry, I moved from Tennessee long ago, so I am all too unfamiliar with most of what you're asking. But, I will say that the downside to staying in Gatlinburg is that it's over an hour on the other side of Knoxville, making your drive home after the loss all the longer and more miserable! :)

I'm sure many will be quick to offer help. However, we'll need tangible evidence you have proven helpful to Vols who have requested similar help in the past on bammer boards.

Hope you have a good time before and after the azz kickin' your team receives.

UA93, you just gotta go to Calhoun's on the River. It's iconic, a part of the history of Vols football in Knoxville. Be prepared for crowded, though, if you go at any point on game day.

Hope you have a great visit, right up until kickoff. :hi:

I've always parked downtown behind the movie theater on game days. It's free, but you need to get there early enough to find parking. So a good plan is to park early and then go get some food at either Downtown Grill and Brewery, or somewhere on market square.

Tailgating is pretty easy. If you're not being an ass, a lot of people will welcome you to their tailgate. Stop and talk with people along the way, someone will invite you to join them.

I've tailgated with opposing fans at most away games. Have never had a problem. Just like anywhere, the idiots will stand out. Avoid them.

I second this on parking. Its just about a block or two further than the places that start charging to park and the walk isn't bad unless you have some kind of disability.

1. Red Carpet Inn On Cherry Street. Southeast Knoxville is very underrated and cozy.
2. Fraternity Park, park anywhere
3. Fraternity Park again, should be a very welcoming group
4. Mouse's Ear lunch buffet is excellent. Perhaps Golden Corral in Pigeon Forge or the comedy barn, I hear they have shuttles to and from the game.

The obvious best place is in Knoxville.........I could not resist.....sorry. I agree with everyone else........get there early and I would make reservations if they take them for eating establishments.........It's going to be a crazy wicked weekend. As for tailgating, look for the RV with a bunch of Orange and White.....again, couldn't resist.

Wish I could be there.

Go Vols!!

Pretty solid advice if I say so myself!

I appreciate all of the ideas on my questions. We stayed in Kodak-Seiverville, parked for $20 in parking deck near the courthouse. Everyone was hospitable before and afterwards.
Traffic wasn't bad in Pigeon Forge until today, and then it was AWFUL, all the way to Chattanooga!!!!

Next year, I will return the favor.
