I dont want to get into the ins and outs of why they didn’t play against BSU.
Several media members have said that, despite what CJH said in the post game, that neither was held out because of injury/health reasons.
Does anybody know the real reason?

For arguments sake, let’s say it was disciplinary.
Should we assume that it was a one game suspension and they will play vs Pitt or a two game and they will play vs Akron?
My inquiring mind wants to know.
As we all are quite aware,LB and CB are positions of need. We really need for them to be available vs Pitt.

Williams out several weeks. Sounds like injury but I've not heard details.

Mitchell is a discipline issue. Injury has been refuted with him by several. Projected back by the end of the month

Typical happenings when it comes to many a transfer. I'll say it again....hitting on those types is more the exception than the rule. I never count on those guys and jucos for contributions. I'm actually surprised everytime I see guys like Hooker, Jones, and McCoy having the success that they are.

Thank you. That really sucks about Mitchell. Why does he even bother with football to go thru the injuries and transfer and then screw up off the field? Geez.

I expect you are going to remain surprised more from now on. Transferring is only going to become more and more popular. Won't be long before maybe 1/3 of a teams players come from transfers. Needless to say when a small school player "lights it up", money from a big school will effect a player much like a preacher who gets a "higher calling".

and the team as a whole..
I meant ‘team’ by ‘them’. Thanks for clarifying.

Really, I think solid internal punishment should probably be enough for discipline. Maybe a guy doesn’t start the first drive or something, but other players and coaches depend on game performance. Why punish the whole team and your coaches by sitting players that could be the difference between a win or a loss? Position coaches need their players to perform well so they can make a name for themselves and move up the ladder. It seems like sitting a guy hurts a lot more people than just the one who broke the rules.

I don't think Mitchell will play another down as a Vol. Has there ever been a more discussed player with so little playing time?

I think this falls into the old military philosophy that a ""chain is only as strong as it's weakest link". This is true however many men suffered abuse from the rest of the company and it did nothing for "bonding" as a team. No when you suspend a football player you effect you team AND fanbase. Gotta find a different way.

Heup needs to only suspend guys for the cupcakes: Ball St, Akron, UT Martin. Don’t punish the team by making these guys miss important games. Seems unfair to them.

Yep. But doesn’t even need to suspend them for the first cup cake of the year and they need some in game experience. Lol c’mon heup…winning trumps all. Be strategic with your discipline
