Question on wirelesss internet

My computer came with a wireless modem. I have it plugged into a cable modem right now that I have had.
What do I need to go wireless and will it be slower?

I'm assuming it's a laptop? maybe not. regardless, you will need a wireless router to send out the wireless signal for your computer to accept. With the right router and wireless adapter it shouldn't be any slower.

so you need to run a wireless router in the chain after your cable modem. I have the same thing working with my cable internet through comcast. here is the link to the microsofts fyi on setting up a home wireless network....it's really pretty simple.
