If we kill our first 2 opponents this year do youthink we could have the confidence to hang with florida? We have no idea what we have this year and the QB situation scares me so I just wanted yall's opinion. I know the first two games are not that big but seeing as we had a really bad team last year I wanted your thoughts. Oh and also how much does emotion play in a big game?

need to be worried about hanging with this first two games... don't be thinking Florida just yet. we can't hang with Florida no matter what we do but winning the first two is not close to a cinch.

I'm not saying that UT will win, but no one is giving us a chance. ESPN and everyone else is just hoping that this one ends up 100-0. Crazier things have happened. Just ask Michigan.

You know as well as I do that a healthy Bama is bad news for UT. It's looking like a 10-12 year winning streak for Bama.

One thing is fo sure Tennessee will not be intimidated. they will play with an intensity that has been absent for some time. The kids belive in the staff , they believe in the tradition, and they belive in themselves to be able to come to what once was a feared neyland stadium. You can go to a program thats a proven winner or you can be a part of a new program thatrequires hard work and the desire to play for championships. these kids all believe. and all things are possible to those that believe.

i may be in a camp of my own, but i think UCLA is bigger than most give credit to, not because they are a power of any sort, but because we lost last year, and we need to get over that "hump" (however small it may be). if we win that by a decent margin, i think going 2-0 into the swamp may give us some swagger...i hope

i dont think UF will "kill" us Bamaperry. you should worry about your own problems, like the chaos that the west will be in this year.

Absolutely not. I see us losing by 2+ TD's.

:eek:lol: Really? While that's nice and all, the real burning question is, how exactly did you get access to a computer there in Alabama? I thought that electricity was just getting there by now.

"Our adversary is of a choleric temper and easily provoked; let us make constant sallies and break down his walls, then he will grow angry and come out. Once we can bring his force to battle, it is doomed to be our prey."

How's that for book-learnin', Bammer?

I LOVE the prospect of this game. The only way Florida really wins in the complete sense is if they hang at least 45 on us. With disciplined ball control and good defense from UT, that score will be an impossibility. Hell, we might even win that kind of game. Who knows, though. I, and the rest of the college football world have NO CLUE what will happen in this game or this season.

Everyone has conveniently forgotten the last UF NC followed up their banner year with four losses. The target is powerful, especially in a conference as competitive as the SEC. The Gators may make it back to the title game, but I have a feeling it will be with more than one loss. Hopefully, one of those will come in Ganesville on 9/19/09.

Bama's about to find out that John Parker Wilson was a much more solid QB than most people thought. He didn't make many mistakes. The next guy may be the same, but probably not.

If UT goes into Gator week 2-0...the media hype will be nothing less than incredible. Despite the way many in the media and other fanbases seems to have nothing but critism and contempt for coach LK and the Vols, EVERYONE will be talking about this up-coming battle with anticipation. As one of my Sooner fan buds put it, ''they are still the big orange and deep down despite what they say outwardly they know how explosive and fast the Vols can potentially be, including the Gators...thats why all the contempt talk, they hide from their fear with smack talk.'' Conventional wisdom says Florida heavily outguns us and should win..they have every advantage, I just wanna see our team hit em in the mouth and fight hard for a full 60.

Bama fans seem to be acting like we did prior to last season. We can tell them that changing quarterbacks is a bigger deal than one might think.

Let me say that I don't think UCLA is going to be a cakewalk for us but I said IF we beat them by a huge margin how will we be going into the Fl game.Just wanted to add that in here.

I like how people keep writing the game off as a loss. You never know what's going to happen. Many times UF wins because they simply got the breaks...a key fumble at the right time...a bad exchange between our QB and the RB, or Brandon James runs one back, that would've never happened if our freakin kicker would stick the damn KO in the end zone half the time (why I'm excited we got a commit Palardy yesterday). There are a ton of variables, but more often than not, it just seems like the Gators get the lion's share of breaks rather just outright beating us.
Sure it all counts, but the point here is, this year...could be a matter of US getting all the lucky breaks. This defense could smother the dickens out of Tebow and company. UF also has to break in a new OC and do without a KEY component of it's offense from last year...Percy Harvin.

Like every year, we'll just have to wait and see. With an entirely new staff...not just and OC, UF doesn't really know what to expect. How soon can our offense gel? Who knows...so, if you're a Tennessee fan...stop underselling your own team before they even play a single snap. You don't know...we don't know. Neither do Florida fans. The more they predict a massive defeat, the more it's going to hurt if they lose. Let them show their hiney, but don't join in with them for Monte's sake. :)
