Been thinking about scooping a Xbox 360, is the "Jasper" 360 going to solve the RROD problem? The RROD is one of the main reasons I avoided the Xbox to begin with, anybody got anything on this? Is a $299 Pro the way to go? What games do I buy right away? And why do I feel dirty for wanting a 360?

As long as they keep using cheap thermal paste, you will get an RROD at some point and time (tends to happen when you get a new game that stresses the system). You might as well accept it if you want one. It's definately worth the hassle though. It's hard to just not go buy another one to use while mine is off to the repair center. Buy either the Pro or the elite. Avoid the arcade unless you just need a second system for backup that you can swap your hard drive on.

Maybe I should just stick with the PS3, I'm just bored with all my games right now. The Failure rate of the 360 seems to be a little ridiculous. I just need Killzone 2 to hurry up. I already traded in W@W, I freaking hated it compared to COD4.

Obviously the PS3 have been more reliable, but right now the better games are on the 360.

I may be lucky as I've had my 360 since original release (yes, with the chrome tray) without a single problem. I generally don't play it more than 3-4 hours at a time, and keep it on it's side.

So nobody has anything on the "JASPER" chipset fixing the RROD problem?

It hasn't been available wide enough or long enough to determine.

I don't understand folks waiting months for some new motherboard that might fix some problem just to avoid a couple weeks in a repair shop under warranty.

Then you REALLY wouldn't understand me avoiding a console completely on the basis of my contempt for all things Microsoft. I might be able to overcome that, if I knew I wouldn't be dropping over $300 on a piece of crap that is always out for repair.

I hear what you're saying, but you know it's greatly exaggerated. You're on the boards. You know there's a large group of folks playing 360s everyday. There's bad ones in the bunch, but it's not nearly as bad when you take off the anti-Microsoft glasses.

Dive in and enjoy some games. Have fun.
