I have noticed a few VN members have a real knowledge of the NCAA recruiting process. I have a question for them.

At this stage of the process all the recruiting media services list “schools of interest” for each prospect whether or not the school has made a scholarship offer and without any reference to a source that would indicated a player really is interested in a particular school or vice versa. I know prospects fill out some initial NCAA paperwork. Do those forms ask for the prospects to list their schools of interest? If so, is that the primary source the recruiting media are using?

Not an insider or anything, but I always assumed that those lists were compiled the old fashioned way. A reporter for 247 or rivals or whatever calls a kid up and says "who are you interested in? Who is interested in you? Who has offered?" And the kid tells them. I would be interested in knowing if that's right or if there is another way they get the info.

It seems like NCAA would give the coaches something to go on and would want to facilitate players' interests as well.

Big schools backed off Jabo because of some grade issues that have been straightened out and he had a knee injury but he is well now. Jay Graham knows what he is doing. I'm sure he's known about this kid since his time in SC

I trust Jay Graham both for his ability to assess talent (especially at running back) and for his loyalty to the program. God bless you, Coach Graham!

I think you're confused. Dyer is the kid that Auburn kicked off their team a couple years ago. He wasn't a so called silent commit.

Jay is the man, but the reason people get so mad about this is because we have a unproven RB who's been hurt now coming in as our premier back of the 2013 class. No one would care if we gave this kid a chance if we had a true premier back that everyone was after, but to put the pressure on this kid to be a Derrick Green etc isn't fair to him. When you are the only back taken in a class you are going to be looked at as the "elite back" when in reality this kid is more of a role player/scat back.

In what ways does Jabo Lee remind you of Chris Johnson? CJ is 2-3" taller and much faster then Jabo Lee. The only comparison is that they were both lightly recruited out of HS. There are alot of players that JL could be compared to but Chris Johnson isn't one of them. Jabo is quick but runs a 4.45-4.50 (40). Johnson was a true 4.3 out of high school which is a huge difference. Just don't see it

You realize Jabo Lee was our last and only hope. If you trust CJG ability to assess talent then you must also admit Jabo is not nearly as talented as Green, Ford, Barber, Henry, Turman, Kamara and the other 10+ running backs we offered before him.

I hope the kid does great and surprises some people but to pretend this guy is something he's not is just setting yourself for disappointment.

Our signing class is comprised of long termed commits and the recently recruited, they wanted to be Vols. Pampering and showing the love in the process is BS, either you want to play at a certain program or you don't. So far Butch seems to be a coach kids want to play for. We shall see.

Initially, it usually comes from the kid's coaches and/or local newspapers.:hi:
GO VOLS!

Not sure how anything I posted could be construed into "pretending this guy is something he's not," but ok. I'm just saying that I think Graham will do the best possible for this program. I think Jabo must have been the best possible given the situation. I hope that he takes this mission on with a massive chip on his shoulder to prove everyone wrong. With Graham coaching hi, it wouldn't surprise me too much. Besides, Jabo picked Tennessee ... that alone counts for something in my book. Behind him all the way.

Plus, if others back off on Jabo due to his injury, maybe that will drive him harder to get back to full strength. Coming back from a knee injury is tough. I'd think that Coach Graham would have a good feel for how he was progressing and whether or not he'd be able to compete.

Sorry but this whole schools backed off because of injury and if not for the injury he'd be a 5* stuff is crap. There were more than a few highly recruited players with injuries that were still pursued by the top schools and were still ranked pretty high.
This kid is a small back with marginal speed and after watching his film he spends most of his time running it outside, which won't work in the sec with his speed. He is a true 3*, nothing about his measurables or film would lead anyone but the fans here to think he should be ranked anywhere near 5*s. He is nowhere near an elite or #1 back, he is a role, change of pace back and I'm sure he will find his niche here. I'm glad he's here but trying to put him on the same level or higher than the true elite backs of this class is just ridiculous.

The 4.34 40 listed for this kid is wrong?
