Can someone who is good with cars help me? I drive a 2015 Honda CRV. I recently got a new device charger that plugs into the cigarette lighter. It has a small screen that tells you the voltage output of your car. Most of the time, the voltage reads between 14.2-14.4 volts while I’m driving, which I understand is good. However, sometimes it reads as low as 12.5 volts for several minutes. I’ve tested the actual battery with a multimeter, and the reading the charger shows is always the same as the multimeter, so I know the charger’s reading is accurate.
So…could this be a problem? I’ve read about “dual mode charging” where the voltage will sometimes drop for efficiency reasons, but I wanted others’ opinions because I’m not sure. I’m worried there could be an alternator problem or something. I’d appreciate any advice.
