I just had a repairman try to fix a year old hi def tv I have and he failed. He is with best Buy where I got the TV. He gave me a recipt for a new TV so later I can go into Best Buy and pick one out. The model I have they do not make anymore so
1. Do I still have to get a Sony?
2. How do you think BB will work this?

Yes, Milo works at BestBuy... my guess is that you have to buy a TV of similar value, but it doesn't have to be by the same mfg.

Yea I paid 2400 for it a year ago so I hope I get the newer model of my Sony. I would not mind a Samsung!

That was your first mistake. Best Buy "Geek Squad"/techs couldn't fix a peanut butter sandwich.

I had one bad experience where this clown was telling me that I needed to spend close to $300 when it was a simple 5 minute fix on my laptop. I've heard PLENTY of people tell me their stories after I told them what happened to me there.

Send me the receipt and I will check for you. I'm always willing to help, I'll PM my address, don't worry, I won't charge you anything.

USAF, you are such a loyal guy. Couldn't imagine you doing anything wrong. Finevol, send this man your stuff and he will get it taken care of.

(How much do I get for saying that USAF?)

Check out the Pioneer "kuros" - heard good things about them.

I've got a Pio Plasma (a couple generations old) and love it.
