I'm sure it means a football cut on the field, changing direction suddenly and then quickly "slicing" through the D.

So cut = "sudden change of direction", slice = "turn on the after burners"

Of course, to today's players raised on hip hop, they both might means something different. :p

Cut as in change direction. Slice meaning "rip" as get across the body of the person in front of you, then pursue and tackle
