why did pearl leave the starters in so long after the game seemed to be firmly in hand?

LBSU still wasn't missing anything there for a time even with the starters still in the game.

True, I don't really know why he did. Maybe he was trying to give his starters extra time to get used to their surroundings.

Or maybe he preached about a killer instinct / take no prisoners attitude before the game.

If we had pulled our starters, we wouldn't have run up 121 points. That point total is going to make us one of the big stories of the day. Pearl just continues to grab attention and sell the program.
