Question about recruiting in the State of TN...

30% of the state of Georgia is African American. While only 16% of Tennessee is African American.

Therefore GA has a higher percentage of putting out talent.

Take a look at the top 100 recruits on Rivals, I'm pretty sure 90% is African American.

And the biggest part of the African Americans are Nashville, Memphis, and Jackson. We recruit Nashville well but not the Memphis and Jackson area.

I know for a fact this isn't true. These kids are bigger fans than you think. I know. So its not a legitimate reason.

You know for a "fact" that the "opinion" of 17 & 18 year old kids in West TN is that UT is favored in comparison to Ole Miss, Arkansas, MSU, and Tiger High?

So...you've polled high school athletes in West TN, specifically Memphis?

West TN in general is pro-UT, but there is also a LARGE contingent of Ole Miss fans, a not so small group of State fans, and decent size population of Arkansas & Tiger High fans (specifically in Memphis).

I didn't realize just how diverse Memphis was, in terms of college loyalty, until about 5 years ago when I began working out there. I'd go so far to say that Ole Miss, UT, and Memphis all vie for the loyalties of the city and could either be in a three-way tie or change from first to third, depending on the time of the day.

Say what you want, as a whole, UT owns the lion's share of West TN but Memphis is the exception....and outside of ATL, it's likely the most diverse city in terms of team loyalty in the South.

not sure you understand how TSSAA works. The high schools make up the TSSAA. The H.S. tell them what rules they want and the TSSAA administers the rules.

That's not correct. The TSSAA is made of a board of directors if they did what the schools wanted we would have had a public/private split years ago.

Been involved with high school athletics in Tennessee for a decade and this is absolutely false.

While I can't speak for the entire state, it seems like there has been a bigger commitment to football in middle TN over the past decade or so. Might have something to do with the presence of an NFL team here. There are also more former Titans that are now coaching in the area, and it seems players are being developed at lower levels now than in the past.

When I was in school East Tn always dominated in the playoffs. Alcoa, Maryville, Fulton, Austin East, Knox Catholic, Webb, West Morristown.
