Why do all of the people who want Fulmer retained use his recruiting prowess as a key reason? To put it simply I would rather win with a "bad" recruiting class than lose with a "good" recruiting class. If the next guy recruits bad and loses is it not essentially the same as recruiting good and losing?

Agreed. Fulmer has had 3 top 10 recruiting classes since 2002 and has won ZERO SEC titles.

It looks more and more that PhiLLLLLup lived on talent during the 90s. I would much rather have a good gameday coach with decent recruits. Is there any reason we can't have a good recruiting staff and a good gameday coach? They talk like PhiLLLLLLLLLLLup gets all the recruits himself?

I would take a 20 deep class of nothing but 3 stars if we got a new coach.

I am really starting to think Fulmer will be back next year. Hamilton & Fulmer both met with Tahj Boyd and told him nothing would change. I don't think that Hamilton or Fulmer would say that unless it's true. They are not the type to lie to recruits (ala Meyer & Saban). If Fulmer some how pulls in Moses, White, Brown, Hicks, & Bonds i think he will be back. Take it for what it is.

I think he will be back. That's just how our program has done business. What's to say they will change now. We can't complain forever because I certainly am not a Bama fan.

Tahj Boyd has to be a complete moron to join a team with no offensive direction. My guess is he'll call a news conference and announce he's going to Texas Tech!:)

The recruiting argument is bogus. Let me ask you this. If it was your company and your money being managed by someone with a record of success simular to Fulmer's since 2002 and you were paying Fulmer like salary (adjusted) to him, would you keep him or look for a new manager?

Probably not a good analogy under current circumstances, because that guy would probably get a golden parachute on his way out the door, just like Fulmer is about to receive.

But I see where you are going. :p

How about this analogy. In racing, if you have the best car but lose the race to a "slower" car does it really matter if you had the "best" car? What we are doing isn't working. That is what matters.

I don't understand the recruiting arguement either. we have been declining since '01 so something is not working out right. i hear about us getting these good recruiting classes and then we don't do anything so either we are recruiting guys who end up being bust which tells me we are not judgeing talent well or we are not developing well once it is here. IMO it is both, I can not believe that our o-line is a bunch of busts i just think that our coaching staff did not do a good job of developing those guys.

I agree. I just look at teams who get comparable talent to us. Those teams, on average, are much better on the field. bad judgement and bad development are the answers that I come up with.
