I asked this question in the Gruden IV thread, but it got lost among all the info, pictures, gaming and governmental discussions. It's all good though, as I have read almost all of it. I'm here on the Gruden Train until it is either announced that there is one, or not.

The question I have is, would too much real, truthful information (not saying what's been posted in the 4 threads is not real and truthful) coming out too soon nix the deal, ala Miles to Michigan?

Thoughts, and Thanks.

The good part about this is most of the media says Gruden isnt coming. Which im sure UT and Gruden want it that way.

If Gruden would let message board chatter alter his decision to come back to coaching, he needs to stay in the broadcast booth.

Or it might be because the only people claiming he's coming are a few anonymous people on a message board?

Should cause quite the stir in the national media...

Anonymous posters on a message board have no bearing on anything in real life

My take on it is that it's a bidness, just like every other bidness, and during any negotiating process, you don't want to have everything documented and trumpeted by every media outlet, both official and unofficial. Feathers get ruffled when working out deals, and it's a whole lot easier to let things go and move forward if it's not all in print somewhere (witness the latest pizzing war over on JGIV.) So I understand the thinking behind a media clamp-down.

As for the forums chatter, I understand the frenzy, but I'm OK with waiting to see what comes out in the end. It's not as if anything I think or hope or write makes any difference, anyway.

All that above is just my guess, based on 58 years on planet Earth, watching the world go by.

Shhhhhh Don't bring logic to the discussion of Gruden. You will bring the wrath of Grudenites down upon you!

I think that's why Dooley is still the coach. Any rumors that get out or info leaked will just be classified as "crazy fan talk." (No matter if it has validity or not) As long as Dooley is coach, Media would look stupid asking coaching change questions, so IMO after season (KY game) Boom...Dooley gone...Gruden announced shortly after. I'm not sure Grude is 100% thing, but I'm going to be optimistic that the big boosters can save our arse on this one.

Could be a situation where as an employee under contract with several companies where big money is involved, requires said employee to negotiate out of contracts so no bridges get burned.

If you were employed by a good company who had stood by you and gave you opportunities but was offered a job doing what you love, would you not to the right thing and handle your business in a professional matter?

The rumor has gone viral but yet neither UT or Gruden has come forward to flat out deny it. Where there is smoke there is fire.

GmanTN dailed it there. No one is coming out denying it. Actually everytime Hubbs posts something about it, it actually confirms what some are thinking (except that a deal is reached). WAAAAAAAY too much smoke here to there not be a fire. It just depends on if the fire gets fanned or not...

i wouldn't call message board speculation...information getting out...

when I see it scroll across ESPN, then I'll believe it

This all started after what Kurt Herbsteit said at the start of the season . So either way were going to blame espn cause they hate us .

Exactly. Hubbs has always been straight up and if it wasnt happening he would say it. But obviously he isnt allowed to reveal it so he can keep his ties with UT.

I'm with Gman....if this was just one site with one person posting a thread....that would be different. But, this thing is on blogs all over the country and has made it's way to people in higher places. I firmly believe if nothing was going on...We would see something like this on ESPN bottom line: Gruden says he plans to stay with MNF for next year. I'm curious if anyone remembers what happened last year when he was reported to all of these schools (i.e. Miami)? Wasn't there a denial pretty quick after rumor got huge? I'm sure if Gruden was aware that Vol fans are going crazy over this and he knew he wasn't coming...he would, out of respect, say he was flattered but not interested or something to that effect. Thoughts?

that would be a good idea to have Dooley back so you could divide your fanbase, lower ticket sales, and create constant controversy and negative pub all year. You may be right because Admin has botched many decisions....but to me...the neg far outweighs the pos for bringing him back...

I don't think Gruden needs any additional push to sell his own brand but just look at this board after his name was thrown around. You've got people chomping at the bit and drooling over his name. I'm sure Cheek, Hart, and countless others have received calls, emails, and snail mail over needing to hire him. His stock, albeit already high, has gone through the roof. Intentional or not, this story out there easily hands Gruden leverage here or with ESPN.
