Question about games televised...

I live in the midwest. I have had ESPN Gameplan on Directv since the 2002 season. I am not quite sure how the PPV games work. So maybe you could help inform me.

How is it possible for the Vol Network PPV to pick up games overs the years like Duke, Arkansas State, UAB, Air Force, Louisiana Tech, and Rutgers(during the 2002 season) but not pick up the October 13th Mississippi State game?

It makes no sense to me at all. I feel safe that the ratings of a UT/MSU game would be higher than the games that have been on PPV in the recent years.

This is not a definitive answer, but I'm going to guess that all those Vol Network PPV games that you've seen on Gameplan were home games. This game is in Starkville; presumably the Vol Network doesn't have the wherewithal to travel to Mississippi to broadcast the game.

We need the Mississippi State equivalent of the Vol Network to broadcast the game (on PPV in Mississippi, presumably) in order for Gameplan to be able to pick it up. I'm not sure there is such an equivalent.

You are right. In the heat of the moment.. I had forgotten the game was in Starkville. All of the games I had mentioned were in Knoxville.

Well, I guess I can start the sulking now:cray: It will be the first UT game that I have not witnessed since the 2001 game at Kentucky. That was the last straw for me before I switched to Directv to pick up ESPN Gameplan.
