Did CBJ have anything to do with Eric Fisher going to Central Michigan? He was only a 2 star, I guess raw at the time, but now being considered as possible #1 pick or top 5. CBJ was gone shortly after, I assume his coaching staff as well, but I was hoping this could be a sign of talent evaluating or coaching skills which might not be contributed to guys on our staff now.

Thanks, it really doesn't mean anything since he didn't coach there long after but hey makes me think he knows what he is doing!

Here’s another guy you might have heard of: JJ Watt. Super-talented TE Jones got to stay with CMU. Can play DE in a pinch.* Would’ve gone to Wisconsin if they had offered.

Yeah, they know how to find raw talent. Give ’em a couple of years to develop it, and you will be surprised. Chris Peterson is really the king of finding ‘diamonds in the rough’. Other guys, like Brian Kelly and our own Butch Jones, find guys who are players.

*This part is sarcasm.

Let's take care of Tennessee anything else or former players recruited is immaterial especially the old tired argument that you can win in the SEC with 2 star players, at some point Alabama, FL, Georgia, USC, Ole Miss and others will show us that is a false assumption. This argument is only made when that's all you recruit. Before everyone jumps my case so far I am a fan of Coach Jones especially compared to Dooley the loser.

For once, we agree.

It's great and all to find those hidden gems of a player. Realistically, you cannot build a roster with them. Everyone bickers about people who just look at stars from scouting/rating sites. However, more often than not, the high 3* or 4* is going to be more successful than the low 3* or 2*. The numbers speak for themselves. That does not mean that we shouldn't be looking for or recruiting those low ranked players. Sometimes, it's simply a case of exposure or a good senior season.

alabubba , fla , and usce didn't attract top talent 'til they hired coaches kids had confidence in. That's what CBJ must do and that's accomplished by winning. It's the coaching ! Confidence.

Interesting looking at Watts profile page. Jones beat out some stronger competetion (comparatively) to land Watts. Kinda impressive...
