Yes, supposedly Ole Miss and Auburn out recruited us. I don't see it that way! Our average stars would put us 11th in Scout and 13th in Rivals. WHICH WOULD BE 5TH IN THE SEC behind UF, LSU, UA, and UGA.

I didn't come to this conclusion this year. Because, we had less commits than many others. I have always felt this way. Besides, you recruit players to fit the team. You don't just take a guy to boost the teams recruiting ratings according to Rivals and Scout.

There are a lot of negative threads right now. I don't understand it. Kiffin did do a good job of building the fence around TN (King, Teague). It just isn't complete yet.

I do agree with several. We needed a few more studs on the line, especially OL. However, We landed Richardson and Green. When is the last time UT got two four star WRs from FL in a recruiting class? I don't think we ever have. I would say we had a pretty positive day! .......

Agreed, I don't think Auburn's class especially is very good. They signed a lot of lower level players.

I know losing Brown stung quite a bit and I might get blasted for saying this, but I'm going to pull a Larry Summers and throw out a hypothetical: Could getting the best WR out of Florida trump getting the best out of Tennessee?

From The Daily Beacon--

"Despite the defections, Lane Kiffin and company put another notch in their recruiting belt with some pleasant signing day surprises. If they can close with the four guys left on their board they have an outside shot to finish in the top 10 classes in the country when things are all said and done. They still have four guys left on the board that won’t make their decisions until after signing day who could improve their class ranking."

What about a QB for us?

We were not going to waste a scholarship on a QB when the QB's we wanted were already locked up. Boyd has to have knee surgery and will not play next year so we would have wasted a scholly on him. We will sign a top 5 QB next year and Boyd will be forgotten.

It also says in that Daily Beacon article:

"The nation’s top tailback, Bryce Brown, is taking his sweet time with recruiting and won’t even visit UT until sometime after his family vacation ends on Feb. 7."

I didn't realize we had secured a visit with Bryce Brown? If so, that's huge!

Guys, I take two reads from this:
1. We have what we need for now
2. They have their eye on a bigtimmer in the next two years and are treading water

so it's sink or swim for the next two years at QB
with crompton or stephens

Quality over Quantity needs to be explained to the guy who is airing his breakup in the other thread...

AMEN!!! Let the coaches do their job and support them. I'm estatic about this recruiting class. Only a fool would think that in less than two months or , realistically, three weeks the staff could pull together a top ten class. I believe that CLK has a master plan and he is sticking to it. He had the guts to send away some highly ranked recruits that would have made this class look better on paper. Tennessee has had top five classes over the past several years and from what I can tell we have not seen the results on the field. CLK and staff will get the program where it wants to be.
