The KNS listed qb's as Clausen, Ainge and Schaeffer, in that order. Sounds correct to me as Spring Practice started today. Let the banter begin :D

That list will change at the end of spring practice......It will be Ainge in front with Clausen in 2nd.....Either of those two wouldn't be bad at 1st stringer but Ainge will be the 1st stringer this year IMO

What I read on GoVolsXtra, they listed Clausen OR Ainge OR Schaeffer and had this note to the side that read.........

Players are listed in order of projected depth except where preceded by "OR".......

I think they are just listing Clausen as the first one because he finished out last season.

Hey, another QB thread! It is long overdue! Ainge will be the starter!

I tried pinning a QB poll to see if that would slow them down, but I have come to realize that you cannot stop QB threads . . . You can only hope to contain them.

Hopefully, there will be some actual news coming out of spring practice and we'll be able to post something other than opinions about the QBs.

...by the way, it's going to be Ainge. :D

Chris low of the Tennessean says that Ainge is the front-runner. Fulmer said today there is no clear #1 guy right now. THey will get about the same amount of snaps and a starter should emerge by the end of the spring. Ainge is going to be the starter, I think most people realize that.

god just spoke to me. and i was surprised to hear that he was a vol fan....he said i can ask him 2 questions....so first i said "if u r a vol fan, why the crap havent we won more championships'?....he said that he has been busy.... :banghead:

the second one, i just had to ask the most important question known to man kind...so i thunk real hard and i had the best question ever.... who is gonna start at qb this year? :bash: :bash: and he told me that, that was the stupidest thing i could have asked....... BECAUSE ITS GONNA BE AINGE, SO QUIT MAKING THREADS ABOUT THE QB SITUATION. thank u GOD.

Here is an excerpt about our QB's......

Fulmer said the Vols plan to name a starting quarterback by the end of spring.

Sanders, however, said it's too early to have any idea of who that will be.

"Who knows?'' he said. "Maybe we'll have a first down quarterback, a second down quarterback and a third down quarterback.

"Then, we just need to find out who'll be in there on fourth down.''

What about Jim Bob Randy?

At least that should quiet the people who actually believed that Crompton had a shot.

When I saw all those choices in that poll, I wondered if somebody was using an alias and being an a-hole.

It's a start...

Fulmer doesn't seem to give anything away. It's smart coaching, but waiting on Fulmer's word for what's going to happen is like looking both ways in an intersection while you're rolling over the hood of a moving car.

sounds like the competition will be open to me...there won't be any favorites....the best guy will start plain and simple....I say good luck to all involved...it's going to be a tough decision and shape the face of UT football over the next few years!!! It even get s more complex when Jon arrives....we could be looking at the same (transfer situation) again the following year!!

Crompton wanted to red-shirt this year. He knew he would. With Clausen being a senior, and Schaeffer either transfering or moving position will make it Jonathan's to lose. He may wait 3 years but atleast we know we have a talented, gifted, athletic, physically ready for SEC play QB after Ainge leaves.
