QB

Josh should go get the QB that gives us the best chance to win in 26 and let everything else sort itself out. Coddling a QB recruit with the perfect setup like we did Nico got us nowhere. Look at the entire 23 QB class not named Arch Manning. Literally all of the high profile ones besides Arch transferred.

We haven't seen enough of George to have any idea if he or Faizon are the best options next year. Who knows, maybe they are. Leaving your fate in the hands of a pair of freshmen QBs is risky, because I promise all of the ones clamoring for an unproven QB will be "fahr Hiiiiiiiighpull" if they suck and we go 6-6 or worse.

Who would be the 3rd quarterback to play Tues, if something happens to Joey and Mac. Just curious, one could pull a muscle and another get the wind knocked out of him, or just lose a helmet. I assume wildcat the remainder of the game.
Mason Phillips is listed as a true freshman QB…but I kind of wonder if we wouldn’t use one of the WRs who played QB in HS…

Well, I remember how all of y’all ranted and raved about Nico. I got completely blasted on here when I said he didn’t show he was all that after his first bowl game. Most of the blasting was excuses of him being a “freshman”. Now look at all of y’all star gazers.

So everyone wanting GMac to start in the bowl game. What if he gets injured? We are down to one QB going into next year. With NIL and the transfer portal it’s gonna be that we or any other team has to go get the best fit.It may hurt some feelings but so be it.It’s a business now.If the hometown or Tennessee born and bred have to go play at Vandy,ETSU or UTC it’s not our problem. We need to field the best available players period.

Not sure the Tennessee NIL collective can drive the financial component of a new top shelf starting quarterback, GMAC and Faison, we will have a small fortune tied up in quarterbacks, only one of which can play on the offensive side of the ball at a time, there is some concern that the Tennessee NIL is not as flush as some of the other schools within the SEC, i.e. Texas, Texas A & M, Oklahoma, LSU, Alabama, Georgia and Arkansas, such that overspending in certain areas will drive underspending in other areas, i.e. linebackers, offensive linemen, etc. When the university starts throwing money around and sharing revenue, I'm not sure under Title IX, they will have the luxury of paying market rates for certain sports/positions, etc. it may end up being a flat fee supplement for every scholarship athlete, more along the lines of a monthly per diem to do what they do.

Money might be better spent hiring a general manager for the football program as well as a new strength and conditioning staff to support the linemen and the defensive team along the way.

Last I saw Tennessee was paying somewhere around 14 mil NIL others are paying 18 million and Ohio State was paying 24 million last year

Interesting stat from the Sports Source. The best QB in the portal in terms of 20+ yard accuracy is Amari Odom from Kennesaw St. He has better numbers this year than Joey had (in terms of completion percentage and picks. Same number of TDs on less attempts. Even better than Hendon in 22.

25 of 45, 909 yards, 13 TDs and 2 INTs.

No, Joey Aguilar has earned the right to play
Joey is the kind of guy who would play the first series. Take a delay of game on first play of next series, and give the ball to GMac with a smile on his face. Maybe even give the kid a smack on the butt cheek before jogging off the field. He’d probably get more joy from that that playing the whole game

CJH wouldn't do that to JA.
I get it . I'm not saying ja hasn't earned it or anything else... Heupel said nobody's bigger than the program so what's best for the program?? To get the person that will be your likely starting QB next year real game time xp or letting the person that won't be here next year play this game?? I'm glad Joey is starting and playing this game but it's not what's best unless he's coming back

The likely starting QB is not on the team yet

Merk was over rated. They had to change his throwing motion and he needs a new team. He made 1.5 million this year they wasn't going to do that again.
I suppose one needs to follow the entire thread to get the gist of the conversation here.
My point is five stars don't always pan out.People are all over Brandon's jock just like they were Nico's jock. Highschool stars don't mean they're going to be superstars in college.
