They were discussing on the Sports Animal that a NJ judge is expected to rule that the NCAA's 5 year is not valid and unenforcable. They suggested TN may wait and try to entice a guy that was previously out of eligibility that might not be a high draft pick to play another year of college ball for more money than they would get as a lower pick NFL player.

Sounds like a pretty big gamble, no? Letting the portal close and others get taking, hoping on the favorable verdict and then also hoping to convince someone to come out of the draft? And can they even do that, if they’ve declared and gotten an agent? I like the idea, just don’t understand all the logistics I suppose.

There are way too many people, Josh Pate among them, building Angeli up because of one single drive in the playoffs where all he basically did was make sure he didn’t throw the game away. The expectations for him are waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy too high.

The ability to do exactly this is why many people like him as a prospect. I wouldn’t mind signing Drew Allar or Cade Klubnik but we have to be realistic. There are no junior or senior playmakers available because their sights are set on the NFL. We aren’t signing an underclassman because we are already investing in McIntyre and Brandon. That leaves junior or senior game managers. A one year guy to bridge the gap who can avoid making 2025 a disaster.

I don't know how much Spyre has left for the coming season, but I think they could get a cash infusion for a good QB.

Nico salary is gone. They have plenty.

I don’t think there’s any scenario where we don’t bring in a QB. It may be a backup from UT Martin, but we have to have more than 2 QBs on the roster this fall. Think we also add WR

Combine both of these (minus Angeli, add Aguilar) and this is my ideal scenario. And I think Aguilar would be phenomenal in Heupel’s offense.

You may be right. I believe Josh can figure out which one would be best. Just have to wait it out. They are looking everywhere to figure out the best way forward. Our coach likes to win. He doesn't want a wash year and with what was going on with Nico, he obviously feels the better way to proceed to win was without him.
