Has anybody heard any comments from CDD or CJC that would lead you to believe that Bray has secured the position for good, regardless of his performance from here on out?

I know this is speculation, but let's just say that he puts in a stinker against Vandy (a couple or 3 picks) and then follows that up with a weak performance against Kentucky..

Any thoughts on what the situation would be moving forward? Does anybody think Simms would have a chance to regain the spot?

I don't want to even think about this, but let's say we lose to KY in part due to a poor outing from Bray.. you have to wonder what the mindset and confidence level would be moving into the offseason (especially with no bowl practice).

I just wonder about fan reaction and overall perception of Bray if he doesn't play lights-out these next 2 games. Hopefully everybody stays behind him, but we all know how fickle some of the negavols are - would people really be calling for Simms to be the guy for next year if Bray does struggle?

I really hope he continues his success and stays rock solid so this doesn't even become an issue. It's clear that he's the future and has a ton of potential, and I think we all know there will be some rough patches as he continues to mature and gain experience. :eek:k:

That will not happen. I'm a big believer in him. The team has bought into him and has rallied around him. PLUS WHEN YOU ARE RELATED TO JIM THORPE........NUFF SAID.

I think it's safe to say that it's Bray's job to lose. I don't think CDD would hesitate to put Simms in if he thought that would help the team win though....

Point taken, but a lot of people (myself included) were just as pumped about Ainge after his first couple of starts and we all know how that turned out.. He had a decent career overall, but a lot of people jumped off the train when he started struggling and dogged him until he left.

I like Sims and proud of his effort, but I believe if he played in the Ole Miss game, he would have been sacked at least 6 times. The subtle moves Bray makes in the pocket can't be taught. I just think the kid has "it". We may see picks and mistakes but the way he bounces back and doesn't fold from them is a joy to see. We haven't seen that in a long, long, long time.

I don't see Bray losing his job to Simms.

However, given history, it wouldn't surprise me to see Simms attempt to inoculate Bray by means of smallpox-infected blankets.

ole miss has a better D IMO than does vandy, I think he will be fine. KY is a different story though, that game always scares me even though we win. Regardless, I see him going into the offseason and being the starting qb for years to come

Worley....

Are you kidding me? We have a kid that is a starting freshman that just threw 10 TD's in 10 quarters and you actually believe that a freshman coming in is going to surpass him?

You will lead the pack on the people wanting to give the #2 team QB a try after Bray has his first poor game.

Agreed. The irony is that at the beginning of the year, a lot of people had concerns about Bray getting broken in two because of his frame. I really thought Simms would be able to avoid pressure/sacks because he's shorter and stockier and you'd think he'd more mobile.

As it turns out, though, Bray is actually better at avoiding the rush and has a much better pocket presence. He also seems to move his feet better when he needs to and make subtle body adjustments to buy extra time. That being said, I really think he has a LESSER chance of getting injured in the backfield than Simms does.

easy now...I was just offering an answer to his question...

I'm all for Bray...just hope he can pack on some muscle before his Sophomore year, and continue to develop. It's also good to know that Worley is "in the wings"...I never was much of a fan of Matt.

Brays #'s
54%
1151 yards
10 TD
3 INT
2 -0 as starter

Could be 3-0 if he started against SC

Not to shabby for a freshmen in the SEC.

Please tell me your joking...

Yo, go easy. he's responding to my original post speculating about Bray's performance in the next 2 games.

I realize a lot of people are gulping that tasty koolaid and predicting Peyton 2.0 with a chance for heisman by his JR year. Some are acting like just b/c he had 2 stellar games against inferior comp that there's absolutely no way he'll disappoint in the future. IMO that's a pretty hefty presumption.

Like I said, I'm ALL for that and hope his success continues. My point is that the minute Bray starts struggling, I can already hear the chants of 'Crompton 2.0' and the coaches will have to start answering questions like "So, the offense is struggling.. When do you think we'll see Simms again?" etc.

Something horrific would have to happen for Simms to sniff the field again. He just flat out sucks and he knows it.

Even if he does struggle in the next two games, I think everyone on here realizes that he's the guy for the future. I don't even know if Simms will be here next year let alone be in a position to start.

He should just leave, he cant physically or mentally beat Bray and if Worley(sp?) pans out hes bumped to 3rd string.

and then theres Nance, Chaney likes the kid, trusts him throwing over the middle. So dare I say Simms is behind him too?
