Holy freakin' screenname batman! lol

I'd forgot there was an '82 around here. Yeah, he made it official. He's pretty much been a done deal since his visit.

Stephaun Raines will commit on Thursday and then guys like Ramone Johnson and Aleric Mullins may pull the trigger this week. Victor Thomas will also be a Vol, barring some sudden change. Logan El also announces tomm., but I'm not too confident that he'll announce for the Vols.

Sweet screenname man! I'm glad we picked up Stephens, I was kinda worried he would go to Michigan, hopefully he'll stick with us on Feb. 1.

He'll stick. He's been sold on UT since his visit. The only other competitors were Ole Miss until he decided he didn't care for the new coaches there, and Michigan.....which he doesn't care for the weather. He loves Cut and the Vols.

Rivals has UT 24th in class ranking, but when Stephens is added, we should rise a spot or two. Scout has us 27th w/o Stephens.

Really good pickup. This kid has a lot of ability, but is just somewhat "raw". He missed his entire junior season, and that often has a major impact on a player's ranking and recruitng when coming out as a senior. Take Walter Fisher for example, missed his junior year, was low ranked as a denoir with not very many impressive offers, but is now a 5* DE.

Even with missing his junior year, he was ranked as the #11 QB in the country by Scout and had offers from Tennessee, Michigan, OSU, Texas Tech, Georgia Tech, Colorado, Ole Miss, etc. Has the potential to be a really solid QB and I'm looking for to seeing him develop under Coach Cutcliffe.

Top 15 class or better. :matrix:

Man I hope so. I'm not sure we can climb that high unless we get Ramone Johnson and Brandon Warren.

For everyone dissapointed with this year's recruiting, keep in mind that Florida's great class that everyone is talking about is essentially the same caliber class we got last season. We'll be back.

ok. here comes bad cop.

why do we need stephens? just to go up the recruiting top 25. big deal. it means jack. we have crompton with 4 years left and ainge with 2. this means nothing.

we need o-linemen, linebackers, d-tackles and safeties. and an allamerican reciever.

forget about qbs

We need a lot of things, agreed. But we still don't have a single proven QB on our roster. Crompton hasn't played a snap. I hope he's as good as he's supposed to be, but until we know that I'd like to have as many options as possible.

On a side note, has anybody checked out our classes the last couple of years lately? While the 2003 and 2004 classes look a lot like this current one seems to be shaping up, the 2002 class was just absurd. While most of the 5 stars actually never panned out, that class looks really good on paper.

I guess that goes to show how inaccurate recruiting rankings really can be.

i hope this is true it is a pick up we needed badly. he steps in as a #3, but you never know by the end of the year if things go bad he may be starting.

proven or not. this kid stephens is not gonna solve our problems immediatley.

my point was that alot of ppl on here get excited about 4 and 5 stars just so our position will go up. most have no clue what it takes to develop these guys and get them were they need to be.

look at usc. they have only 16 commits but are in the top 5. what is our excuse?

I can sum it up in one word CC....Clausen. I never want to see UT stuck without a QB again. The only way to prevent that is to bring as many in as possible. I agree this does not necessarily save the signing class, but it is a darn good start.

To quote the man in the picture (or at least who Chappelle is acting as):

"Give it to me baby!"

You hit the nail on the head. Preach on!

Well considering that in 2004 we went through two to play the third string on the last leg, I'd say we do need something reliable. But on that same line of thinking if we had a 5star O Line, and I'm not talking just out of HS, we could have just one QB and not have to worry about anything injury wise.

we got a qb cause cutliffe wanted one. Hubbs said cutliffe feeled we needed a qb in this class just incase, and it is "his" first qb.. now watch the master mold him into greatness... cbc if you and me are still around here in a couple years, i am going to have to say i told you so...

this kid is a stud cbc, you just watch and enjoy the ride...
