QB Hendon Hooker Best Transfer From Last Year.

Everybody in the ACC knows who he is.

Neither one is much of a household name. I doubt many outside of the Big Ten know who Kenneth Walker is.
Whatever, I have no wish to run down Hooker, I think he's a great player. I do think there is no way in hell you would have this opinion that Hooker was objectively a better transfer last year than Walker if Walker played for us and Hooker played for Michigan State and they had the exact stats/awards, etc., but that's just my opinion, which can never be proven right, nor can yours.

Kenneth Walker, won the Doak Walker and the Walter Camp awards, unanimous All-American, finished 6th in Heisman voting. If we are going into next year, that's easy too, Caleb Williams is a much stronger Heisman contender (that's what you are asking). Hadn't seen a whole lot of folks outside of Tennessee message boards or Tennessee media touting Hooker as a Heisman contender either honestly, not that he doesn't have the ability to work his way into it, right now there are multiple transfers with better odds:

Was in Biloxi 2 weeks ago and the Beau Rivage(MGM) had HH a little higher. Believe he was #16 on the list at 66-1. Wonder what Joe Burrow was before his senior year.

Hooker took a team with the 109th scoring offense and got it to 7th. It’s not even close. Hooker was the best transfer.

We were 4-6 against P5 teams last year versus 3-7 the year before. Having Bowling Green, South Alabama and Tech on the schedule exaggerates the amount of improvement. ESPN projected us to win 6.6 in the preseason last year and we won 7. Yeah, that's an improvement but lord y'all are easily impressed, you are going to need heart monitors when we get for real good again.

Easily impressed? So jumping 100 spots in scoring offense is not something to be impressed about? Doesn’t matter who is on your schedule. I am sure MS benefitted heavily playing Indiana, Maryland, Western Kentucky, Rutgers and Youngstown State.

It's at least one good thing Pruitt got right as he convinced Hooker to come to UT. Heupel benched him for the loser Milton and put him in when he had no choice. Hooker took advantage of the opportunity and the rest is history.

Looks like Michigan State jumped 77, but if we are looking at team improvement as a gauge, wins are the bottom line are they not? They went from 2-5 against P5 teams to 9-2, we went from 3-7 to 4-6. Hooker's a great player, I'm really glad we've got him, but I can't believe you guys are seriously arguing that he is objectively a better and more impactful transfer last year than the dude who won the Walter Camp award and the Doak Walker. That's a coke bottle thick orange glasses homer take, which is fine, but I just explained why I disagreed when I was quite cattily asked by someone else to name another transfer who was "a legitimate Heisman trophy contender". Btw don't read the latest ESPN CFB roundtable on Heisman candidates for next year, they don't even mention Hooker, which is BS in my opinion considering who all they do mention, but it's indicative of my point about what a small blip on the radar Hooker is outside of the state of Tennessee. That's personally fine with me, I'd rather them be surprised by his play, if we go 11-2 or something this year, he'll get plenty of accolades.

College football roundtable: Can anyone besides the big three QBs win the Heisman?

You disagree? It'd be hard for me to argue with a straight face that Hooker was better than a guy who won the Walter Camp, won the Doak Walker, was a unanimous All-American, led his team to an 11-2 record after being 2-5 the year before, etc. Hooker was good, Walker had an amazing year though, he had more yards in a single season than any Vol running back ever has had in a season and just as many touchdowns. If he was ours we'd be laughing our butts off at anyone who said he wasn't the best transfer. We've all got to take off the coke bottle thick orange glasses once in awhile.

Hooker/Heupel turned Tennessee from a terrible offense to a top ten one in a single season. I agree with you on Walker but let’s not pretend there’s no argument for Hooker. Totally different offense with him

Never did, my original response to whether or not Hooker was the best transfer was: "At UT? Yes. In CFB? PROBABLY not." It's an argument for Hooker but it's not likely to gain much traction outside our fanbase. I think Walker was clearly the choice transfer for all of CFB last year and I suspect rather strongly that if he was on our team, these guys would agree.
