Just a gut feeling from my untrained eye.............he'll win the position, IMO because of his cerebral instincts. He seems to read through his progressions, check downs, etc. better than the others. Let me be clear though, whoever our coach trots out there, I'm in full support.
I agree he think he’s a smart kid with good enough arm. We’ve got speed, so if he’s able to distribute the ball to that speed I actually like our offense

Pudding, as in the only way to test it is to eat it.

Putting: As in the real worth, success, or effectiveness of something can only be determined by putting it to the test by trying or using it, appearances and promises aside—just as the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Generally, the expressions are used to say that the real worth, success, or effectiveness of something can only be determined by putting it to the test by trying or using it, appearances and promises aside—just as the best test of a pudding is to eat it.
Try to google "the proof is in the putting" vs "the proof is in the pudding"

Hopefully, he's worked on speeding up his delivery a little. Doesn't seem to deliver as fast as Maurer...has a little hitch. But I think he'll win the job too. He seems to have the best feel for the game. His high school film was impressive.

What is certain in my mind is that Heupel is running an honest, transparent (to the players) competition, giving all QBs equal reps and situational work. Everything seems to be evaluated and communicated, and players are not abandoned after a bad practice or two. This seems to be in stark contrast to the Bama saboteur we recently fired, who settled on JG very early in fall practice, largely cutting out normal practice reps for QB#3 and QB#4, only to realize mid-season after an alternate scrimmage opened his eyes that HB and others had some talent. I trust Heupel's selection process much more than Pruitt's.

I also trust Halze/Heupel's coaching more than Weinke's, at least based upon the practice videos that have been released. I was always amazed by the lack of any real technical "how to" in Weinke's instructions. The new staff seems different to me.
