QB Depth

We will see, remember Kiffin recruited Bray. Bray was committed to San Diego State. It was the only thing Kiffin did right.

This part I agree with - the quality I am not sure about

other than Bray there is noone who has proven to be a quality player - I know only Worley has been giving the chance but he was not impressive so at this point I don't agree that there is quality depth there

typicaly are backup qb's proven starters?

People forget that Worley was put into an impossible situation last year. Without Hunter, we had no receivers for him to throw to and in the most difficult part of the season. Also, Bray did well the that last part of his Freshman year, but he also had 2 SR WR's and 1 SR TE to throw too. Big difference.

I'm not saying that Petterman won't pass Worley on the depth chart next year, however I'm not counting out Worley yet either just based on last year.

I don't know about impossible - he did still have an All SEC wideout, a good pass catching TE, and a OL that could pass block

also he went against USCjr, Middle TN, Arky - not exactly elite defenses

Lets just agree that he's established quality depth at all positions except maybe DL and LB

Those two positions will be light years ahead of where they've been the last few years.. We r close to having good depth at all positions.. I'm excited to see McCullers, Couch, Sentimore, Walls, AJ, Maggitt, Lathers play this season.. It's lookin good if we can avoid major injuries..

One capable wr that wasn't a freshman and a pretty good tight end that had to help block a lot of the time... Oh, and NO running game.. Yeah, he had it made for a freshman qb in the SEC..

He did tell the CBS fieldreporter to ask the question again because the "band was playing Rocky Top". We lost so that gets at least 1/2 a right.

Dooley and Chaney have done a nice job establishing quality depth at QB.

Bray - Junior
Worley - Sophomore
Peterman - Freshman
Ferguson - HS Senior

As recruits this is there rankings:

Bray-4 star rivals #7, 4 star 247-#5
Peterman 4 star rivals #8, 3 star 247-#15
Ferguson 3 star rivals-#14, 3 star 247-#26
Worley-3 star rivals #24, 3 star 247-NR

Everybody knows that Bray has an enormous upside potential and hopefully this is the year that he shows that he is willing to learn the mental aspect of the game (studying opponents film and mastering our offensive system, including the run game) and thus becomes a much more complete QB.

Worley is reputed to be a student of the game who knows our offense at least as well as Bray, and is a film room warrior. For the most part, he has worked the kinks out of his throwing motion and while his arm strength is yet to be proven, he should be much improved over last year.

Peterman appears to combine the best of both Bray and Worley, being a student of the game and is advanced for his age in the art of film study. Like Bray, he has a strong, accurate arm and can make all the throws. Overall, Peterman has a huge upside, potentially higher than Bray.

Very early to give a good evaluation of Ferguson, but he has the strong arm and tendency to make risky throws like Bray. We have no idea about his dedication to film study and learning the offense, but my first reaction after watching his film was that he is a clone of Peterman -- their playing style is very similar. If that turns out to be the case, I am very happy to have him as our QB for this class.

Take any freshman QB and throw them out there in the heart of an SEC Schedule and they wouldn't look good either. I'm not sure Worley ever imagined that scenario. No doubt he'll have better idea of what it takes to play in this league after his experience last year.

I think we're sitting pretty good having Worley and Peterman on our roster...

I never said he had it made but we have an easy point of comparison b/c Bray played his first game as a freshman against USCjr just like Worley

Bray lit it up and looked completely legit - Worley did not - again I am not saying the kid will never develop but he wasnt as highly rated nor did he have the offer lists of Bray or Peterman - when he did come in he struggled mightily

just not sure why people think he will be so good - he was projected to be mediocre - when he came in he looked mediocre at best - that doesnt give me comfort at all

Not arguing but the ranking systems tend to have bias and other factors involved. Not sure but thinking Gatorades Player of the Yr doesnt have the same type of bias. Not just a state winner but the national player of the yr. he also played against the #1 player that yr and threw 5tds against the def lead by him.

I'm happy with where we r at qb, especially thinking about where we were when cdd got here. I hope we can rs peterman and ferguson, and at least get Worley 1 solid yr at the starting job. Just hope that our QB situation gets to the pt where the players we get are good enough to be rewarded with the opportunity. I dont want to see a QB transfer cause he wants a chance to play but don't fault him for it. Bj Coleman and nick Stephens come to mind.
