Q/A session with Fulmer, Chavis, Clawson

First, does anyone else feel like the coaches do this crap all the time. They build up players and say they are making noise in practice and really pushing for playing time, and we never see them step on the field. It happens every spring and it's happened a few times this year already whether it's the G-gun with Berry back there with him, or G. Williams not really getting to do anything(LB or DE). If they are making some noise in practice and you're talking about them pushing for playing time, put them in the game to get some action! Maybe they can help produce better results than what we've been having.

Second, did anyone else notice that Chavis contradicted himself when talking about the DE's? Rucker asks about the DE's 'pinning their ears back and going to get the qb' and Chavis says they are asked to play within the scheme and they have not let them go like that; then he ends it with "it's not like we say you have to do this and you have to do that. we've let them go".

Nice to know that our Defensive Co-ordinator confuses himself when doing something as simple as giving an interview.

Q: Coach Fulmer said this was the offense’s best Thursday practice this season. What were your thoughts on it?

CLAWSON: “We had good focus. We were in and out of the huddle quickly. We had very few missed assignments. You see progress like that and know it has to carry over to Saturday. Doing it on Thursday helps. It makes you feel better about what you’re going to do on Saturday, but we need to carry it over.”

So the key to a positive practice is when you don't miss a lot of assignments? I would have hoped we would be better than accomplishing correct play calling being an achievement.

Runningback hasn't been our problem....derr....fumble inside the 5 and a big personal foul flag. No problems at all.

Even if it WAS against UAB, it doesn't matter because Creer has bigger play potential than either Foster or Hardesty.

I wish had a word filter with things he shouldn't be allowed to say. "Probably" would be one of them on my list. We "probably" should get him involved more, but we won't. Then when he DOES get to play and CONTINUES to show his ability, we'll PROBABLY just put him back to 3rd string when we need a big play.

Chavis sounds like he has no idea what he's talking about. I still have hope for Clawson's offense. I don't think they've had the luxury of using all of it yet as we've been limited by mental midgets.
