Putting "Lady" in the name of womens' teams

But you still never answered the question. Why would you rather watch "subpar" athletes when there are better ones playing?

The majority of men's CBB players can jump higher than a foot of the ground, make the majority of their layups and simply are better athletes than women's CBB

The NBA and CBB both contain guys that can jump, shoot and hit layups. Therefore, the athletic ability from NBA to CBB is not as huge a dropoff as women's CBB and men's CBB.

I agree with what you're saying but at the same time I think its pretty sad that a term that denotes being "polite, proper, and refined" is taken by some women as demeaning.

In the context of this sport and their team, not an outright dismissal of the word "lady."

I guess one way of thinking about it would be if the women's team had come first and were called the "Vols," and then the men were called the "Gentlemen Vols." That's weird, and probably a bit demeaning - like you have to caveat it. "Women's Team" is fine just like you'd say "Men's Team," but really they're both Vols, regardless of gender.

A lot of people might not think it's worth talking about or changing, but if some people don't wish to be called that, I'm happy to oblige.

.

I've never understood how women's volleyball players have such great verticle leaping abilities but the basketball players do not. Sometimes I wonder if it is training more than ability.

You answered the question. You have no point to make except to bash the womens team. Your generalization about women athletes proves that.

I would dare say there is not a pro team out there that would lose to a college team. Pros get paid for a reason. The same holds true for the NFL, NHL, MLB, etc. By watching college sports it makes you sound like a hypocrite.

Yes I know nothing of sports because you say so. Thanks for the insight. God forbid somebody doesn't like women's basketball.

No need to get like that. You have taken multiple cheap shots at the womens team and I'm trying to figure why. You make absurd statements and then don't back them up. If you are not interested then why continue to post about it?

I've done no such thing. You called me out. I posted my opinion and you don't like it.

NCAA Division I Womens Basketball - CBS SportsLine.com

The Rutgers' coach says it's offensive to put the term "Lady" in front of women's teams. P.S. says it's tradition and how the team is known. Stringer says there shouldn't be a distinction and there both (men and women) basketball and not any different. So what should we call the women's f.f.? This really is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard someone being offended over.

What is the point of this argument? What she wants her team to be called? How about destroy any kind of "distinction" and merge women's and men's basketball together? I read the article, found some ridiculous arguments from this lady, just overwhelmingly stupid.
