Dear Nick, thank you so much for all you have done for us. You were there when times were tough, and gave us a shoulder to cry on. I really thought we might have something good going, but after four weeks, it just isn't working out. I'm going back to Jon, but hope we can still be friends.

That's right, I said it. Stick the Volunteer pariah back under center. Risk fumbled handoffs or passes to Fulmer in hopes that something might finally click and shake up what is easily the worst offense I have ever seen fielded at UT.

Consider that we are averaging an anemic 17.5 points per game since switching quarterbacks. That number, though terrible, doesn't really tell the whole story, however, as 14 of those points came by the defense, and 10 have come as direct results of turnovers. Even without discounting the meaningless, phantom penalty aided late touchdown last night, that puts the offense responsible for 11.5 per game. How many games is that going to win?

At least with Crompton, there was the possibility of getting better. Right now, I see an offense that doesn't do anything well. Change it back, or change it up, but change it. I actually couldn't believe we kept running the same personel out there last night time and time again to do the same thing, when it obviously wasn't working (and hasn't all season.)Doing the same thing three times in a row and then punting is going to continue to get the same results.

You've got to be kidding. At least Nick can sometimes complete a pass. If anything, you should crying for BJ Coleman to get a shot, but Crompton? Really?

Letting Crompton play another meaningful minute would be a statement of resignation from Fulmer.

Huh??? Did you see ANY signs of progress from UCLA to UF, to UAB, to AU? I sure didn't.

I understand your premise, but as mentioned above, if anything, pull for Coleman to get in, see what he can do.

no, there really wasnt

That's true, but I do think he has the ability to improve, whereas with Stephens I'm not so sure.

however, I'm not jumping on the bandwagon, but I wouldn't mind to see Crompton getting a couple of snaps at some point.

Who knows, maybe now that he's already been benched and we can't get any worse, he will lighten up and play without the pressure that he had on his shoulders during the first few games.

How about an offensive line and a sign of a running game. Peyton Manning would look average with 2nd and 9 and 3rd and 9 the entire game.

I agree. Sort of.

The season is lost. Anyone who thinks 7-5 is still a possibility needs to have their gas company come find the leak.

This is a 6-6 or 5-7 team. What's the difference? A trip to the "Who-Gives-A-Crap-We're-On-ESPN2-At-Midnight-On-A-Thursday Bowl" ?

If you're San Diego State, that's a good thing. If you're UT, that's a eulogy for your program.

Platoon the QB's. All of them. Two series each. Find the hot hand, and start working towards 2009.

2008 is over. The fat lady is already singing.

go vols.

Then he doesn't need any snaps.

That's what the Crompton defenders were saying about a month ago. All I heard was how Stephens and Coleman sucked in practice, while Mountain Values continued to throw at the ground and other team.

At least it would be an attempt to improve. I'd rather see us go exclusively to the g-gun or wild-berry or single wing that tromp out Stephens again to go three-and-out.

For all of those who question my sobriety, let me ask you this: how is the Stephens offense any better than what we saw under Crompton? We aren't scoring any points. We aren't getting any yardage. We currently rank 103rd in time of posession.

This isn't working. The game was over last night when Saban chose to kick a FG on 4th and 1 nursing a 10 point lead early in the third quarter because there was no possibility we would ever be able to score two touchdowns.

How is that better than what we had through the first four games?

Maybe putting Crompton back in would guarantee a swifter depature for Fulmer and gang!

You must be drunk. The ONLY positive thing that could come from putting Jonathan Crompton back in a game is that it would hasten the firing of Fulmer. On second thought, that's a great idea! Crompton for starting QB!!!

Now that I've read through this entire thread I see that I'm not the only one to see this one positive angle to playing Crompton again.

You sound like the drunken frat boy idiots sitting by us at the game last night. They chanted slurred Crompton chants the entire time and ruined the night for us. Everyone was yelling at them to stop but they were just being jerks the entire time.
