For those willing to believe the smokescreen that Hubbs threw out there...you need to recognize three key facts

1. Larry Scott has been with Butch one year.
2. Larry Scott has stated he wants to be a HC
3. Larry Scott doesn't have a record of calling plays

There is no way Butch Jones is comfortable hiring a guy he barely knows, who has aspirations of leaving soon, and has no track record of success in the OC position.

If you are looking inside then look at Azzani.

Larry Scott is a bluff.

which scares me more as Azzani has not even shined as a WR coach (I honestly would like to replace him as a position coach)

The bold would pump the breaks on ZA.

When it comes to offense Butch has shown himself to be very insular. He is set in his ways at this point. I would be surprised if it wasn't Azzani or possibly Larry Scott at this point. It won't be some big splash hire who brings any radical change, that's for sure.

WRs showed more unit growth this year than either the TEs or STs.

That said. I don't like either option but it's not my head on the block for this hire.

Butch knows what's at stake.

What's the point of bluffing by floating the name of an internal candidate?

It maybe be that Jones believes he's got to promote Scott to keep him as a recruiter.

I still believe this will be an outside hire. Not Helfrich, but a good candidate nonetheless. If Mahoney ends up out wouldn't mind getting Herb Hand from Auburn to coach the OL.

I was hoping Helfrich. Don't want another YES man.........

Why should we expect Azzani to be good as a coordinator when he seemingly has trouble developing and getting the most out of some uber talent he's wasted annually at one of the positions he would supposedly be coordinating? I sincerely hope he is not Jones's choice.

If it is an inside hire it will be Scott. He will get a HC or OC position somewhere in the next few years if not here. ZA is a career assistant type.

Gotta feeling we'll be bumping this thread in fairly short order.

Jennings is a stud and he's played wr basically only in college. Malone is going pro. Our receivers block like grown men. Byrd looked solid, as did other freshman receivers. I don't know if he's amazing but I'm confused why everyone hates on this staff so much.
Preston Williams is a bust and a half... not to mention a quitter like Hurd. North had injuries but looked solid when he played and had targets.
What has he done poorly?

The WRs that bought in to what he was preaching have succeeded and the ones that didn't have not. I think Malone probably looking back appreciates some of those early lessons he didn't like that made him a better overall WR this year. Jennings IMO helped that room because he loves to block and once people saw what his blocking did to wear on Florida DBs the others took notice except for Preston don't touch me I'm beautiful Williams

"It won't be some big splash hire who brings any radical change, that's for sure"...Well, you seem quite sure of yourself, Carnac.

He's right.. It's Butch's offense and he believes in it. He is NOT going to bring in someone who will make even moderate changes, much less radical..
