Also the PS3 Slim is confirmed
120gb
wifi
$299
Dual Shock 3

Will start to go on sale first week in September. Also the price cut for the "fat" PS3's is effective starting tomorrow. I am still reading the news out of the Sony Gamerscom Conference and will post as soon as I hear the information. This is coming straight from Sony by the way.

Good price point. Machine looks pretty sharp, too. Right in line with MS new $299 elites coming but you get built in wifi and free online play. Strong move.

I prefer my 360 but I'm all for more people buying and thus more software coming for the PS3 as well.

I concur, I am just hoping for the day that I can actually play my PS3 as much as my 360 with some new games coming out for the PS3. Still no word on the release date for GT5 should find out at the Tokyo Games.

Figures they'd announce this 2 weeks after I bought my ps3.......:cray:

If you have the receipt, take it back. Get store credit and pick this up when it lands.

Or, most stores have the price reduction now on the fat models. If you bought at Best Buy, etc., take your receipt in and get a pricematch. You'll get $100 for the effort.

I'll definately give it a shot. You think it'll work for the bundle packs though? I got the last Killzone 2/MGS4 80gb bundle in Memphis.

No idea. I'd at least call and see what the price is tomorrow if you are talking a big chain store.

unfortunately, it took this long to drop the price to this point....and they chose to drop it right in a time when most people aren't spending their money

Sweet!

My house got robbed while I was TDY this summer, I putting off replacing my PS3 until I got home, my patience has been rewarded. My old one didn't have the wireless, this will be a nice addition. Also glad my insurance company finished my claim last month.....when the price was higher :)

You had the original 20gig version? Just about the only thing different now is no PS2 support and no support for Linux, etc.

Yeah, at the time it was the only one I could find in stores, i got it right as it was released. I was running close to filling up that 20gigs as well, between all the map packs, rockband songs, and installs for games it goes quick.

Good deal. Always pays to keep receipts. I like saving boxes and started just putting the receipts in there long ago. It's paid off a few times for me.

Not a chance GT5 comes out in Oct. They will be lucky to get it on shelves this year. But, Sony still seems to think it's going to make it for Q4 2009.
