Looks-PS3
Contoller-360 it fits bigger hands better
Games-360 amount alone
Online dash board- 360 hands down
Visuals- PS3 has better graphics but I am using a HDMI vs. component to be fair, not by much
Online voice- 360 hands down. PS3 sounds bad.
Reliability- PS3 LOL no question
Sound- 50-50
Online shop demos games movies ect.-360 hands down

PS3 advantage-Bluray, looks, graphics but small,HDMI, reliable
360 advantage-Online, dash board options, games
What is better? I love them both!

So do you guys think the price will drop after x-mas on the xbox or PS3. I dont mind spending the money but i dont want to buy it now and then after x-mas,they cut the price by $100 or something. :dunno:

If the price drops it will be done in the spring/early summer.

You could just wait till 2011 and pick it up real cheap.

If you dont have HD type tv I would go with 360 for sure.

you'll want an hd tv eventually though. i bought a playstation 2 a year ago figuring it's a lot cheaper, i can get the games used, and i don't have a good enough tv to make the money for a new system worth it. last week i bought a 50 inch plasma. i just bought a playstation 3. whoops.

I've got the 360 Elite and has a HDMI connection. The BIGGEST reason I want the PS3 is for BluRay. I'm gonna have to get a different audio receiver if I get because I'll need more HDMI inputs. I'd really like to have something with 3 in (sat, xbox, ps3) and 1 out so 1 input on the tv could be left open for a future camcorder.

There's always the option of an HDMI switch from monoprice.

If you want a receiver, looks like the Sony 910 is probably your best bet in the sub $500 range. 3 HDMI inputs. Runs around $400-$500.

Looked at that Sony a few days ago at Electronic Express. I hope to be getting something for Christmas.

I pulled the plug on this one today, actually. Ended up being about $360 shipped. I usually spend weeks researching stuff like this, but everything I was reading came down 2 or 3 receivers in the range I was looking (sub $500). I really liked the 3 HDMI inputs.

If I think about it, I'll post some impressions after I get it next week. Hoping to have it all hooked up and setup before friends and family start coming around for xmas.

I won't be attempting 7.1 until sometime next year. My 5.1 will have to do for awhile longer.

I know it's only got 2 HDMI inputs, but for my money, the best visual performance you will see out of a $500 and under is by far a Harman Kardon AVR-247.
