I have about decided to buy a next gen system, but am on the fence about which one to get. There are a lot of you on here that know more than I do about video games, so which one would you recommend. Try to be as unbias as possible.:p

For the money? A 360. There's a lot of games coming out this fall. I don't own either, so I'm unbiased, if that's at all possible.

Bang for your buck will be a 360... assuming it doesn't break. OTOH, if you are looking at needing a high def. video player, you'll pay similar prices for the PS3 and 360... Currently there are far more/better games on the 360, unless you count the PS3s backwards compatibility with PS2 titles.

Its a wash. Pick the one you like best.

360 is the answer

  • better game selection
  • great for networking mp3, pics, & vids from your pc (especially if you have VISTA)
  • the controller has much better design (if that's an issue)
  • if you like Madden or NCAA Football then the 360 will be double the FPS (may not be a big deal to a few)
  • Xbox Live is untouchable!
  • The new additions to the marketplace videos is pretty cool (allowing you to rent or buy tv shows/movies)
  • Plus Microsoft is always updating and improving the dashboard (and yes correcting errors)
Long live 360

To specify a little, all I want my PS3/360 to do is play video games and nothing more. Don't really care for playing games online.

Is college football supposed to be a full version for PS3 or is it a watered down version?

By what you explained above get a 360 save money and play games. :eek:k:

No it shouldn't be watered down. The graphics will be a little better on the 360.

Once you try xbox live and all the differences in playing online, you will never miss sony. Try one month of Xbox live and see if you like it. I suggest Gears of War. You can rent it for a week or so and see if you like the online interaction. Football games are pretty fun online as well.

You are exactly right about this. When my PS2 broke and I got a Xbox with live, I was hooked. I never realized how much more fun live was than playing the CPU. If I didn't have live then I probably wouldn't have any type of game system at all because now playing the computer (especially in football games) is just boring.

It depends on what you're looking for in a gaming system.

Right now, the XBox 360 has a better library, but that won't matter because the PS3 will eventually catch up.

If you're looking for next-gen DVD player, it's a wash, too. Getting an XBox equipped the same as a PS3, you're looking at the same price either way. So that 1080p might be nice.

Graphics are relatively a wash, as well. IMO Sony has more room for growth, but at the moment visual quality is a tie.

As everybody knows, I prefer Sony. Simply because XBox doesn't have Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, or a number of other SCE-designed games.

I have been a long time Sony backer, but recently i was talked into buying a 360 by playing one game. Gears of War. The game is spectacular online.

But all that i have read and heard about all the problems with both systems is kind of pathetic to me. I mean all these years to get this bad a$$ gaming systems and you have to treat them like a baby. Both crash and get red hot. Mine freezes up all the time. Plus the price to buy or even rent a game is ridiculous.

I would go 360 though, the games they have available are sweet and the PS3 seems to be getting worse not better.
