I read online that some people use their computer's USB ports to charge the controller to keep from leaving the PS3 on. I have also read where some people say their controller charges via the PS3's USB port while it is in stby. What say the fine folk here at VN? V,B!! Thanks

I spent $20 and bought one of the charging docks. Plug it into an outlet and plug the controllers into it. No need for anything else. It's well worth it IMO.

What about the controller from Dream Gear. The PS3 shadow. Modeled after the X Box controller. The analog stick and the d pad are swapped. I bought one of these too. Anyone else try one yet? What is your opinion?

my directv box has usb ports in the back. i have a charging dock that i plug into the directv box and charge like that.

i honestly don't like the xbox controllers all that much and i have never found an aftermarket controller that was worth a crap. i honestly quit wasting my money on them a while back.

One of the main reasons I prefer PS3 over Xbox is the controller. Im not a big fan of the Xbox controller, so this would probably not be for me.

I have had nothing but bad experience with aftermarket accessories.

Update on the Dream Gear controller for the PS3. JUNK!!! JUNK!!! JUNK!!! I have already returned it. It comes with this stupid little "dongle" to plug into the USB port. That is how it communicates. It is not Bluetooth. I could not even get the controller to talk to the dongle. Got the Dualshock 3. Much happier.
