PS3 black screen

My playstation is relatively new I've had it since May, and when I turned it on a few minutes ago, the screen went completely black and the ps3 acted like it wasn't even on..didn't make a sound.

I checked all the outlets and the HDMI cord and everything is hooked up..

I googled it and found that most people had to hold the power button down for a few seconds and listen for a series of beeps to restore the factory settings and it worked for them..I did that correctly and it still didn't work.

If anybody has had this happen to them, I'd really appreciate if I could get some help on how to fix it.

Did you just plug it into a new TV that doesn't support the resolution the PS3 was set on? If so holding the button resets it. Otherwise i'd Try a different HDMI input or the RCA cables.
